Not the strongest JID has put out but he has shown before what his capability is when it comes to making music so I still have faith that the album hopefully won't be all like this.
My 700th ranking which is kinda cool. I feel like this is more of his vibey albums but that is not to say that the he isn't as lyrical as he always is.
Listened to this on a whim and it ended up being really cool and really fun. Not really a dull moment on this and I got exactly what I felt like I wanted out of it after going into it blindly. Also crazy looking at the realease date of this thing, feels like they are ahead of their time on this one.
I listened to this for two reasons. Because all the Clipse stuff I've listened to has made me more interested in Pharrell and the other reason being that this is Tyler, the Creator's favorite album. It was actually pretty fun to listen to and it's fun to hear the small pieces on this album where you clearly can hear inspiration that Tyler got. Not used to the style itself so I'm not as warmed up to it but it was really fun nevertheless.
I don't think this album gives you that much to hate. I have no real reference point to his music but for someone who has not released an album in 26 years this is very good. 27 minutes of just straight good vibes and I can't hate it for that.
The first half is actually decent but the second half just feels like he threw stuff at the wall and went with whatever. And I wouldn’t necessarily hate that because being this far into his career and wanting to do a little experimenting can be fun, but this wasn’t really. The moments on songs like peantus and maria doesn’t hit the right way because it feels like he is trying to act like he still got it like that when rapping on the respective beats of the songs instead of ... read more
Little Simz is truely one of the greatest artists out right now. From her almost cinematic experience on SIMBI and now this more lowkey vibe. It doesn't matter what type of sounding music she makes because she will find a way to make your listening experience amazing.
I know a lot of people are going to talk about it but this whole image change has gone through with her music career is one of the most successful ones I have seen in a while. I could not have imagined 5 years ago that Addison Rae would create some of the best pop music out right now, but she has and it's beautiful to see.
I think yeule has a unique sound which makes it hard to not at least be interested by their music. At the same time I'm not always attracted to maybe casually listening to this but the feeling of immersing yourself into the sounds and vibes of this album makes a very rewarding listen. Definitely would recommend this.
Pretty good but I have listened to a lot of Hip Hop albums lately that are more interesting than this so it didn't hit a lot for me. Features carried a lot too.
This is my second MIKE album and I really prefer this trap vibe he provides on this album
While it's not as hard hitting or full of bangers as an album like Atrocity Exhibition I do think that it holds up by the subject matter and the cohesiveness of it all. I think that it could on a good day stand up as probably my favorite album by him as everything this album is made up of makes it a really compelling listen and really replayable. I do really enjoy that he doesn't completely remove himself from the more silly and fun beats while still talking about real stuff real ... read more
There is a big sense of comfortability listening to Bon Iver's music which makes their music fantastic. When I first checked them out I listened to For Emma and all of the other albums but looking back at it I felt like I skimmed over all the other albums after the debut. I very much regret that because I think that if I spent more time with Bon Iver's discography as a whole I would have loved it and I think this album is perfect for me to want to do that and to go back listen to ... read more
I think we need to give Playboi Carti more props because of how boring listening to this album and other Opium stuff is. He is the only one who actually seems to able to execute something with this type of music that isn't actually boring as hell. I didn't want to think it was but A Great Chaos might have actually been a fluke.
I've been getting more inspired this last week to start doing an older music journey and this album as a starter makes me even more inspired to keep going and making this a thing. It just rocks heavily and it's banger after banger with no filler just like it should be.
