The tribal vibe on some of these tracks is phenomenal. This album completely obliterated my expectations. Definitely my album of the year, by far.
Honestly? Might be my favorite album they've made.

The most underwhelming Thundercat album to date.
It starts out with all of the more upbeat and inspired sounding singles and then devolves into a monotonous and repetitive Thundercat falsetto showcase. I feel like the charm, for me, of Thundercat is the more experimental and comedic nature behind some of his songs. The fact this album is primarily dominated by emotional songs is its biggest flaw. This album has so many beautiful and heartwarming moments. It evokes a deep sense of nostalgia. Don't listen to lovers' carvings unless you're prepared to get emotional.

Way more wacky and fun than Electric Lucifer but with that being said, it's not as consistent of an album experience. Still, Party Machine is on this album and that is one of the best electronic songs ever made, perhaps even the best SONG ever made.

An experimental electronic masterpiece that paved the way for mainstream electronic music. It seamlessly mixes dinky playfulness with darkness in a way that makes it a compelling and unique experience unlike any other.
I could only imagine how mind-blowing this album was when it was released. Bruce Haack was a trailblazer.
