Snow as a Metaphor for Death is one of the best albums I've heard this year. Its intimate and existential story following the death of someone close is only elevated by the unique blend of abrasive noise rock and other hardcore influences. The ingenious placement of grand climaxes elevate a despair and acceptance toward death just as the electronic and screaming segments perpetuate an anger toward the mundaneness life takes on once a core part of your being is torn from you. Deathconsciousness blew me away when I first head it, and it continues to whenever I re-listen to it. It goes from ethereal, droning songs like A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut, to songs full of energy and harsh metal-shoegaze guitars and synths like Holy Fucking Shit: 40,000 and Deep Deep. Divorce Lawyers I Shaved My Head is a very special album to me. Similarly to The Glow Pt. 2 it opened up a new style of music which I hadn't yet got used to when I first listened to it, but it also opened a new world queer storytelling as well as a new take on narratively driven projects.
