This album is just an enjoyable experience and to be honest pretty addictive. The production is consistently good throughout the whole album and Smino is at his best with some flavoured choruses and colourful vocals. I’d never heard a Smino album before this one but I’m definitely a fan now.
Enjoyed this project a lot more than Ultra Violet which I came across through the track “Fair Weather” which I still enjoy. A solid album that upped the production and shows some good progression from Diz. It is short and clear and was one of my favourite albums towards the end of 2022.
A very underrated album that dropped 2 years ago I really enjoyed listening to this in 2021 and it’s a shame it didn’t get as much recognition it should have at the time. The strong production paired with the great pen game I still come back to tracks such as “Pot Of Gold”, “Leave”, “Here We Are” and “Sol Glo”. Prior to listening to this album I was unfamiliar with Uno Hype but I’m looking forward to a project if one drops this ... read more
Has very similar elements to the self titled project and feels a longer continuation of that project. Clean cut production is consistent throughout this album and has many good highlights with the great sample used in “When Sparks Fly” and the addictive tracks with producer Mustard. I have this on vinyl and it sounds even better, whilst I enjoy this album I don’t go back to it as much as the self titled but it is quality in its own right.
A small glimpse into the beginning of Redveil’s potential as an artist, I enjoy a few tracks of this short project such as Weight,Campbell, 5500 and Pigeonman. I’m a big fan of Redveil and will be rooting for him since he is my age and has already shown a lot of promise. It’s a short project that has its flaws and weak points but signifies the progression with learn 2 swim.
Some great moments on this album, I bumped this for a while when it first dropped 2 years ago definitely got me through some hard school days. Contact is a song I have some great memories from and still come back to often. For the most part it is a solid album that has some good highlights and an album that I will always remember playing in High School.
Found this album around this time last year after only being familiar with a few tracks from the rap collective. The production is a huge standout for me personally, I really love chill and laid back production. I regularly go back to ‘Hometown Famous’ and ‘N. Michigan Gospel’ as well as ‘Rageless Hope’. I enjoyed this album and am looking forward to a new album this year from 99 Neigbors.
Solid album from Keem that has a quick run time filled with energy. Whilst it may not explore as much as his later project ‘The Melodic Blue’ it has some addictive tracks such as Honest, Invented It, Bullies and Apologise. It has some good moments but for the most part is just a small sample of what we would later see but is a decent experience in the right context.
Juice’s music has no doubt helped me through a lot of difficult times in my life and whilst there is some tracks on this album i still go back to, 2 years later this album hasn’t stood up like the previous posthumous album Legends Never Die. The album starts with a great opener in Burn followed by the single already dead and my personal favourite You Wouldn’t Understand. After those tracks the album has its ups and downs and what could be great moments with lacklustre ... read more
This is arguably my favourite rap album of all time, when I first explored OutKast’s discography this album was an incredible experience that I had on repeat for months and it just so happened to coincide with the 25th anniversary and I got the vinyl version for Christmas. The production is at times mellow and vany in which pairs well with the elite rapping of Andre 3000 and Big Boi. From the beautiful opener to the euphoric ending of 13th floor/Growing Old the album is my favourite of ... read more
This album got me into rap as a 11 year old kid and hearing Paper Trails for the first time was an eye opening experience for someone who had only heard the commercial rap you’d get on the radio. Joey and his music in my eyes is definitely under appreciated and his 5 year long absence may have some part to that going back to this album and 1999 really shows how talented he was at such a young age. I have some great time’s listening to this album and it’s aged relatively well.
A slight progression from Angelic Hoodrat with cleaner production and some well known features there is plenty of tracks on this album that I come back to. The singles that dropped before this album had me really excited and two years later I look back with fond memories from when this dropped. A solid album that i prefer to his trap heavy ‘Ruffs’ and his recent ep.
I was scrolling through YouTube back in 2019 when I came across Hit and as someone who always wants new music I thought I'd check it out and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I kinda forgot about the track until I heard it again in November 2020 and came across this album and decided to play and it did not disappoint. I grew up mainly with the influence of punk music from my dad and to hear the rock elements used like this I connected to this album unlike most albums I listen to. The reflective ... read more
I remember my first listen to this album in July 2021 I wasn't too impressed by it, I liked a handful of tracks and pushed it to the side for about a month or so. After giving it another listen I became addicted to this album and its short spurt of quality. 20 minutes of Vince rapping about his life and growing up in Ramona Park matched with the great production of Kenny Beats makes me come back to this album nearly two years later. The less upbeat or what some might say slightly disinterested ... read more
This album is closing in on 7 years since it release and to me still holds so much energy and aggression as when I first heard it when I was 13. As someone who has listened very closely to Curry's music and watched numerous interviews, the aggresive and in your face music present on this album marks a time in his life that was quite difficult with the passing of his brother. A quality album that I have great memories from, tracks like pure enough and narcotics may have not made the offical ... read more
