Abstract rap at its finest and MIKE’s best work to date. Each track flows through nicely with great samples and the effortless flows of MIKE standing out in each track. Enjoyed it on first listen but this one will be in the rotation for a while.
It’s a pretty solid album albeit it is just Kevin Abstract. I was fairly excited for this album to be released as I really enjoyed Roadrunner the previous year. Is it a great ending for a much loved ‘boyband’ maybe not but it does detail the issues and the past with Kevin being relatively introspective. I enjoy quite a few tracks off this but I understand why it is disappointing but is levels above TM which should have never been released.

One of my favourite albums of 2022. A real progression from Niagara and seen a big growth in his audience from this project. Self produced and a good mixture of sounds, I’m really excited to see how redveil progresses with his next project. Being the same age as him and seeing his growth makes me a bit more invested in to his music compared to others, this album dropped at a good time and I go back to a lot of these tracks regularly. Looking forward to hopefully seeing him live soon.
Pretty solid mixtape. First time I’ve listened to Amindi outside of her features on Isaiah Rashad, Kenny Mason and Mavi’s albums. Underrated by all means it’s an enjoyable project and there is a lot of potential to work with. Only gripe I have with this project is the mixing it’s a little rough but it’s not an overwhelming presence that causes the melodic sounds to come through.
I had only heard the trio on Relax by rejjie snow a few years back and I admit I’m a little late to checking this project out but I must say it was pretty enjoyable. Some standout tracks such as Smiles and Still alive, it’s clear they are full of energy and potential. Looking forward to future projects and will be interesting to see how they develop their sound.
A timeless album. What more can I say other than the fact it has aged beautifully and is a great experience.
A late release in what was a great year for music, I was pretty excited for this album after the singles Moonshooter, Hollandaise and Do Better. That hype was quickly fading throughout the early parts of the album and the second half was almost unplayable with the weak production and bars. This album made for one of the most underwhelming and disappointing albums of 2022 and it was quite sad to see. It was my first introduction to Ab-Soul and the long wait which learning about was ... read more
First album that I really enjoyed from 2022, it dropped early January and like every Earl album it was different from the last. The production is unique as you can expect from Earl. It was short but addictive and on reflection this album kickstarted a year of music that I love and have fond memories from so for that this album will standout to me for a long time. Is it groundbreaking, no but it is enjoyable.
Plenty of replay value from this, played this heavily back in lockdown. Got some good memories playing this on day trips. Standouts for me are Skyline, Bluffin, Been Away, Lost Kids Get Money and Clouded.
An album I played nonstop for a little while back in High School. Just a nice short project that goes by fast with its energetic production. Haven’t really kept up with Gucci’s new stuff but I definitely have an odd soft spot for this one. Really enjoy Pressure + Layers, Can’t Undo, Dead on Arrival and Headed to the Moon.
Came back to this album after some time and I must say it has grown on me. I was a massive fan of Kenny’s angelic hoodrat era and I was a bit underwhelmed with this sound apart from Shell when it initially dropped. It is a lot cleaner in production and has Kenny playing into his melodic strengths compared to his first two projects. Apart from Black Heart, Dip and Mama don’t know I enjoy the album and I’m really keen for a potential project in the latter half of 2023 from ... read more
It’s a good starting point for Teezo, it’s a solid album that has some unique moments and experiments with different vocal styles and production. I think the criticism on this album has been slightly harsh but I can understand it.
Decided to come back to this album after some time, Saba is coming off a solid 2022 in which he dropped in my opinion one of the most underrated albums of the year. This album is enjoyable throughout with some great production and great penmanship from Saba. His ability for storytelling is what makes him unique in the current climate of rap. Standout tracks for me are Busy/Sirens, Life, Prom/king and Heaven all around me. The album has aged really well and is one of the best rap albums of the ... read more
I appreciate abstract rap for the subgenre it is. Some of my favourite songs of this decade so far have came from it. I was fairly excited for the project Maxo dropped earlier this year due to tracks such as Strongside, Time and Headphone’s. I must say the previous album came and went on first listen for this album it follows the same trend. It’s fairly slow and lacking something but there is a few enjoyable tracks. Maxo has a lot of potential and I think he could be a standout in ... read more
Some really strong tracks on here. It has aged relatively well and it really is a great southern hip hop album. This is the only big krit project I’ve heard and you can tell he really cares for the music and wears his influences on his sleeve. Might have a more solidified opinion on the album with more listens but so far I’ve enjoyed it.
Pretty lacklustre album, a very repetitive sound filled with similar melodies. I’ve enjoyed a handful of Dro Kenji’s tracks but at the present time he can’t make a album that is diverse or experimental. A tough listen only enjoyed Arsonist.
It is dark, peering into Earl’s mind in a low point in his life. I can relate to it, the title itself speaks to me and my life. It is oddly comforting listening to this and it marks what is a constant theme in Earl’s discography in that every album is different to the next. It’s a short but powerful album and one that has a few tracks that i regularly come back to.
Took me a while to check it out but it is cool to see an Australian Artist really refine his sound and continue to progress. On first listen it’s a solid album and I think after a few listens my opinion will be more solidified.
Yeah this is bad. Genuinely could not get through this, jimmy cooks the only thing worth checking out. Not a fan of this drake era but will always enjoy the 2011-2016 era.
A solid album in the world of rock/alternative rap. Was finally good to see a full length project from the duo. Really enjoyed tracks such as DND, We Fall, Bullet Man and Panic. Whilst I go to above tracks I feel the album is inconsistent in the fact it doesn’t maintain the same highs that other tracks offer. I can’t fault the fact that every track is different from the other but I’m looking forward to the progression of their sound in future releases.
