The Alchemist - This Thing Of Ours Vol. 2
68

It’s solid but the clear summary of this, is that Mavi killed it on Miracle Baby. Lossless and 6 five heartbeats are solid tracks but no other track reaches the level of Miracle Baby. I go back to it regularly if you couldn’t tell.

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
90

Easily the best rap album of 2023. Elite production matched with the great chemistry of Peggy and Danny. Great track after another, really happy to see redveil get some shine with him being the lone feature on the project. Will continue to come back to this album and it’s great value.

City Morgue - My Bloody America
38

A pretty lacklustre ending to a duo that definitely left an impression in their early projects. Zillakami was the one who really drove this album and Sosmula was at times unbearable to listen to. I enjoy Zilla’s solo stuff and I’m looking forward to that and that’s all I can say after this project.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
86

After listening to the first 3 albums in their discography I came into this album excited and I must say it didn’t disappoint. Some unbelievable songs such as Shame, For Martha, Perfect and Daphne Descends. A album I wasn’t expecting to reach anywhere near the levels of Mellon Collie, the strong finish of the album really has left an impression on me and I will definitely give a few more listens to solidify my opinion but so far I see it as a good album that is gothic in many ways ... read more

Conway the Machine - God Don't Make Mistakes
88

One of the best albums of 2022 with its deep depth into Conway’s life. Strong track after strong track, the emotions laid bare by Conway makes for an impactful album that is serves as a true reflection of life and preserving through trauma and grief. This album holds one of the best tracks of the decade imo in Stressed. The unimaginable pain of losing a child is one I can relate to within in my family and it is an unforgettable and chilling song. Wild Chapters, Guilty, Lock Load, Tear Gas ... read more

Kenneth Blume - LOUIE
87

Love this album. You can tell Kenny and his collaborators put a lot into this music and it’s one of the few albums where I can forget everything and just simply enjoy the music. A great tribute to his father and a great experience. Would recommend this to anyone interested in production.

Jean Dawson - CHAOS NOW*
83

One of my favourite albums of 2022 in what was a great year for music. This was my first introduction to Jean Dawson as I’d only heard Triple Double ft Asap Rocky before this. I enjoy the production style and the sun genre of Alternative hip hop so this is one that I find myself coming back to from time to time. Really excited to see future releases from Jean Dawson and have enjoyed the music he has put out this year.

MAVI - Laughing so Hard, it Hurts
79

When this first came out I enjoyed it but it was not really in my rotation of albums from last year, I enjoyed a handful of tracks. I decided to listen to this album a few times in the past month and i definitely believe that time changes perspective. It’s a solid project with clean production and mavi is just going for it. I now find myself going back to hemlock and last laugh as well as my good ghosts, which was in my rotation last year. I think this album will age relatively well and ... read more

Denzel Curry - TA13OO
95

It’s hard to fully describe the impact this album has had on my life. I was 14 when this dropped and the first album i followed closely in anticipation for its release. I have great memories of this album and it is genuinely one of the albums that got me through high school. Denzel is my favourite rapper and to see his growth over the years has been a great thing to witness, it’s hard to articulate the connection to the music but the best way I can put it is that he is real and ... read more

Dinner Party - Dinner Party
77

A short and solid 7 song album that looking back was one of the better things to come out of lockdown. Nothing mind blowing but it is a chill experience that you can’t complain about.

Linkin Park - Meteora
84

As a kid I knew Linkin Park for their great hits and the powerful and unforgettable voice of Chester. Finally I’m delving into their discography and I really enjoyed this album and it resonated with me quite a bit with Somewhere I Belong and many others, really speaking to me at this point in my life. This album has aged well and I will definitely continue to listen to this one.

Lil Uzi Vert - Pink Tape
70

On first listen it’s been enjoyable, I like the experimenting in the metal sound and I think after a few listen this will grow on me.
Favourite Tracks: Nakamura, Werewolf, All Alone.

Paris Texas - BOY ANONYMOUS
77

Enjoyed quite a few tracks of this 8 song album. I came across Paris Texas mid way through 2021 and really loved the production matching with the addictive choruses. Situations, Casino, Heavy Metal and Force of Habit are my favourite tracks and still come back to. I’m hoping for an album in 2023 and a progression of the sound we hear on these tracks.

slowthai - UGLY
85

I really enjoyed slowthai’s last project TYRON and was pretty excited for this album. It did not disappoint. Each album in his discography shows further progression in his sound and level of vulnerability in lyrics. The post punk sound matches perfectly with his voice and style and hopefully can catch him live later this year.

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
94

Just incredible on the ears. Each track is different and much like the album cover is a work of art in itself. Off my first listen I can understand why this album is so heavily praised and marked as being majorly influential for music and it’s landscape.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
92

Consistently good throughout the whole album. Growing up I knew of 1979, Tonight Tonight and Bullet with Butterfly Wings. Upon my first listen I’m amazed a 2 hour long album is filled with so many great tracks and isn’t bloated like many albums with similar length. It was just a pleasant experience and one I really enjoyed listening to.

AG Club - Fuck Your Expectations PT. 1
66

I vividly remember April 2021 as a good time for myself. Music wise AG Club, Brockhampton and Kenny Mason had dropped projects. Whilst I don’t enjoy the part 2 to this project it serves its purpose as a fun experience but does have some flaws. Truth and A Bitch Curious are my favourite tracks and the only ones I come back to from time to time. It may not be a memorable album but I credit AG Club for putting me onto Redveil and bringing some solid tracks.

Guapdad 4000 & !llmind - 1176
76

Really enjoyed this project when it first dropped 2 years ago. It’s one of my go to’s to just chill out and relax. The production is real good and pairs well with the melodic style of Guapdad. I still go back to tracks such as How Many, 10finity, Big Shot, Catching Bodies, PlayStation and Swear to God off the deluxe. It may not be lyrically intricate but this album definitely serves it purpose to just being simply fun and enjoyable.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata
90

This album is incredible. Madlib at his finest on production and Freddie at his peak is the perfect combination. Each year it continues to age like fine wine. My favourite tracks are Deeper, Shitsville, Thuggin, High and Uno. When I first found this album due to seeing high praise by a lot in the rap community I was not disappointed and now Freddie is one of my most listened to rappers currently.

Trippie Redd - MANSION MUSIK
40

Pretty disappointing from Trippie who seem rejuvenated with the popular rage sound in Trip at Knight after the bloated mess of Pegasus. Take one look at the lengthy track list and the at times subpar mixing and it’s hard not to be a little let down. I’m not going to expect some lyrical ground breaking work from Trippie but I’d like to see more Life’s a Trip or ALLTY3 inspired work from him in the future
