Just like in most of the albums, the longest songs are the best: No More Parties in LA and Saint Pablo. The first is obviously cus of Kanye's amazing rapping skills while Saint Pablo is a more open and emotional song. Overall, this album is good enough. On first listen there are so much misses but the best ones will probably remain the best ones
I really like the experimental sound of this, it's very unique. But on some tracks it just doesn't work well
And here I thought a Kanye and Jay-Z album would be good enough...But no, it just felt like a generic luxurious and rushed album. Not even Frank Ocean could've saved this
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is Kanye's magnum opus, the revival of his career and while it isn't his best, it's still a very strong, beautiful and twisted experience
Do I get the hate of this album? Yes cause it's an unusual move from Kanye and a detour of his career. Do I get the love of this album? Yes cause it's open, emotional and built lots of rappers' careers. However, this album, just like most of the "emotional albums" feels quite shallow, like Kanye is opening up but not by much. He also sounds so vulnerable and distraught. Probably cause of what had happened to him in the past and it really is a nightmare to go through all ... read more
Now is this album Kanye's best? No. But is it the most feel good and fun? Possibly yeah. I really enjoyed most of the songs cus of how they felt: they felt nice and friendly, just such feel-good songs. Like, this whole album is such a vibe with the futuristic production and Kanye's confidence. It really is a fun album, like the album cover
Some people say this is one of the most underrated Kanye albums...Underrated how? Score-wise? Streaming-wise? Recognition-wise? I feel like this album isn't underrated but...It's perfectly rated. It's keeping the same college vibes, soul sampling, pitched up vocals like its predecessor The College Dropout and Kanye still has that charm and quirkiness that probably really boosted him into mainstream. Also, some of the skits...So real. I'm also unemployed and that's why ... read more
Probably one of (if not) the best hip-hop debut of all time. The soul samples, funny bars, amazing writing - like, it's just a very VERY enjoyable album. I can see why so many people like this bc it's just so college-like. Even the cover shows that this album is basically a benchmark for soul sampling and production while also being very entertaining. Also, it's refreshing to hear Kanye rap like this cus he sounds so...Human. Back then he sounded like a fun and chill guy and now ... read more
This is an album made by Freddie Gibbs and Madlib...That's why it's amazing
No but really when you put Freddie's amazing rapping skills in the same album with legendary producer Madlib, you know banger after banger after banger is gonna bless your ears. And the theory was proved right. I never thought there would be so many 10/10 songs on one album yet surprise surprise, this album did that. Really enjoyed it and I will find myself relistening to it more often
i mean, people like Fantano call this the weakest Kendrick Lamar album but also gave GNX a higher rating (no hate towards that album btw) which...Just shows how amazing Kendrick is if this is considered his weakest (on par with GNX). Like, the concept of one perspective (the side of weakness) being played normally while the other (the side of wickedness) is played in reverse order. And also the tracks themselves are just written in a way that only Pulitzer Prize worthy writers can come up ... read more
not only is the song itself good but the video itself gives a clearer image to its meaning: the different eras of Tyler, The Creator rapping and being killed off, Igor and Ace, The Creator not being shown to be killed, showing how difficult to gloss over those eras are. and, of course, the true side of Tyler. wonder if we'll ever get a project that wouldn't be focused on one point but only about who he really is as a person
oh right, there's ... read more
it's not that this song is bad (which it is bc Tom MacDonald had a farm lookin' ahh MAGA rapper made ts) but it's just stupid: Ben hopped on this song to "deconstruct the culture" with the genre of the culture: hip hop. and Ben's supposed to be this intelligent, sophisticated person meanwhile his literal initials are bs. so how the fuck do you expect to even have any slight impact on ts when you don't know anything about it??
People really REALLY like this mixtape and even if I am not one of them, it’s still a very good record and probably the most popular and accessible remnant of the cloud rap genre that died out quicker than Hittman’s career. And if you don’t know who he is, exactly
Never in my life did I think jazz could be fused with rock and actually sound good but this Maruja debut proved me dead wrong. Not only is it chaotic like any rock album but it's also emotional, heavy and beautiful at times. Especially the long songs (i'm a sucker for a good long song) and they bring up some serious points: "I teach what I am able and seek more than I'm told to, We are self fulfilling prophecies the attitude get with it" and there's some beautiful ... read more
This was a very unique experience not only cause of the melodies, sample chopping and the sort of outer space-like production, but also this album is sometimes hip-hop and then it isn't. Yet it all fits perfectly. The only vocals are from the samples themselves and that makes this album ever so much more unique and perfect. Also, I really like how every single song doesn't feel disconnected and how it all smoothly transitions from one track to another. It's not much but it really ... read more
Surprised that this album sounds like it's supposed to be a hit but only one song has over 100m streams on Spotify. Still, I enjoyed the whole club-like atmosphere with the lyrics about the tough upbringings. It's like a longer and futuristic version of 'Hey Ya!'. And an UNEXPECTED KENDRICK FT ON TS?!
Glad to see Rocky back in the game but I did expect a lot more from him, especially since this was a highly anticipated album. There are some bangers on here but also just some slow psychedelic songs that are just...I don't know how else to explain, they're pleasant.
