A stunning blend of pop, rock and soul. The albums iconic title track still cements itself as one of the greatest songs to have ever been written.
The album masterfully blends eclectic instrumentation and introspective lyrics.
Best track- Nancy Tries To Take The Night
If I had to listen to one album for the rest of my life it would be this hands down. Just the most pure album I’ve ever heard.
Great album
One of the best and well produced albums I’ve heard every song is a delight to listen to.
Best song- Death & Romance
Really good
with a blend of post punk energy poetic lyricism, driving rhythms and gritty guitar riffs. The production is tight and creates an emotional resonant. Overall it’s a worthwhile listen.
Best track- Favourite/ Starbuster
Pretty good
The album just falls short of his high bar of his first 3 albums. Just didn’t quite hit on first listen.
Edit
After a few weeks I keep coming back to this album and it’s amazing how certain moods and environments can shift perceptions in music. I was sat outside in the sun put this album on and I’ve never heard an album so perfect to for sitting in the garden and enjoying the sun it just hit different.
Best song- SPEYSIDE
Really good album
The album further cements his reputation as a significant figure In the contemporary music scene.
Songs that will make you laugh smile and cry just a beautiful album from start to finish.
Best song- PEOPLE WATCHING
Pretty good, just nothing to write home about. The lead single Rushmere is the clear highlight in what is a very bland and uninspiring album.
Best song- Rushmere
Worst- Anchor
