Definitely hear for the hype this albums getting, its So fresh and so unique reflecting the absurdity of everyday life through clever lyrics and catchy melodies. Brilliant album.
A decent album but if only the rest of the album was as good as the first 5 songs then this would have been a huge album As it is after the first 5 songs I feel the album take a bit of a dip and gets a bit repetitive after that.
From the Pyre didn’t disappoint. They have built Such a unique sound that’s stands them on there own, they’ve gone bigger and dare I say better in this album and I loved there first record. Overall another killer album.
Album of the year contender for sure, yes as the album goes on it becomes a little samey however the quality remains. As debut albums go this is pretty special.
No idea why it’s taken me so long to listen to this album. Of course I’ve not been living under a rock the past 30+ I’ve heard 5-6 songs already so playing it all the way through it was like a greatest hits album it was hit after hit after hit you can tell why it’s regarded as one of the great albums of all time.
If your looking for the big sing along chorus Biffy then this album is for you. For me I enjoy more of there prog and experimental side whilst I’ve enjoyed there newer stuff the myth of happily ever after being a superb album and one of my favourite Biffy records this new album just lacks that wow factor. I know I will grow to like the album as there are some great tracks on there, I just need more time with some of the othersongs but overall it just feels a little bit on pop side than ... read more
This isn’t just a debut album it feels like an artist that is already established they’ve picked a path and they’ve ran with it. From prog to pop to indie it’s an album that wonderfully combines all these genres. Is it perfect no but you can’t argue the band seem to know there strengths and have great chemistry and for a debut album the skies the limits for this band.
A bit dull and bit boring nothing we haven’t heard from them before. Trying to hard to blend all there albums into one. Whilst there are some killer tracks on this album, Mountains at midnight, tell me when it’s to late, triggers. The album just falls flat and is largely forgettable.
A statement debut album. To think it’s just a bass guitar and a drum kit carrying this whole album and making this monstrous sound you have to hand it to guys. Whilst the songs are no where near anything groundbreaking, they’re certainly bold and stand out. In a time where rock music wasn’t very radio friendly these guys came along with a slap round the face.
This album delivers in so many ways from dreamy melodies to gritty rock showcasing what we love about Wolf Alice plus venturing into new territories. As always with the band capture the feeling nostalgia so well which just resonates with me so well so overall it’s a very solid album and certainly one of the albums of the year.
Best song- The sofa
One of the most unique metal albums ever made. Serj’s dynamic vocals on top of aggressive guitar riffs delivers such a powerful sound. Songs like chop suey, Toxicity and Aerials still cement themselves as some of the best songs ever written.
Some good moments some not so much. Just find their music a little bland and boring don’t quite get the hype around Wet Leg. That being said theres a few decent songs in here but the majority I won’t be rushing to listen to in a hurry.
Best Song- CPR, Pillow talk
Not bad just nothing we haven’t heard before by Lorde.
The album has some good moments however, just doesn’t quite have that wow factor nothing really blew me away. Some songs have a lot of potential and just when you think a song was building into something massive nothing really happened and the song would fade out.
Favourite song- SHAPESHIFTER
Muse are so hit and miss however this is a song that true muse fans have been crying out for. Done with songs like compliance and madness Muse are at there absolute finest when there’s nothing but heavy guitar riffs and this is one of them. This song for me is the complete muse captures there whole discography in one song it’s a perfect Muse song. Hopefully they will continue down this 8 stringed guitar road and we get some more songs similar to this I’m all for it!!!
Surprised how much I enjoyed this album if you can call 20 minutes an album. It’s banger after banger with the production being tight it allows her unique vocals to shine through out.
Overall it’s a pleasant listen if you have 20 mins free it’s worth your time.
Best song- Stateside
An album that masterfully explores the feeling of absence and longing, mixed with lush instrumentation and poignant lyrics.
This album delivers a powerful punch, it’s an album that fuses explosive energy with deep emotion.
Best track- Colossus/ never fight a man with a perm
