This written review is late because of multiple issues involving AOTY. Anyway.
This record says the things every other artist is too afraid to. I admire how flashy and messy this album is. Nothing about this album is polished and it makes it an album you need to hover your undivided attention towards. Melanie talks about the dystopian parts of society in today’s world. Speaking up about multiple different situations that essentially make this world hell. What I love most about this album ... read more
This record started out very strong for a Maisie Peters album. I’ve listened to a handful of The Good Witch and only about 20% of those songs were actually substantially different from each other. This album was about 50/50. Don’t get me wrong, there was no bad, per se songwriting. I actually quite enjoyed a lot of this album. Maisie has a brilliant and unique mind when it comes to writing. She can explain her environment around her so naturally and organically. However, I think ... read more
My first listen to this album I was confused. I then realized that these songs really require thinking. I am astonished by how well Maya can write a song. Meghan Trainor has failed to make a solid piece of work. AGAIN. We have given this woman way too many chances to prove herself. She needs to retire from music and be with her child. 90% of the songs on this record lacked any lyrical depth whatsoever. The ones that had the smallest iota of lyrical depth were ruined by her repetitive vocals. With this record, it’s not even that the music bad, sonically, the songs are fun, generic pop songs. It’s the lyrics that actually make this ... read more
While I haven’t listened to any other Camila projects, I can already tell this is one of her, if not the stronger piece of work. It feels all so surreal and dreamy while keeping the hip-hop and hyper pop sounds at the core. Her exploration through growing up in the spotlight and being a Miami girl is translated beautifully in this project. I found the really good songs REALLLYYYY good, on my personal rankings of each song I almost wanted to give these certain songs over 10, I just ... read more
