jschlatt - A Very 1999 Christmas
60

About as good as jschlatt doing Christmas covers can be

LUCKI - X
80

67->85
I can’t believe at one point I think I had this album at a 3 it just keeps growing on me but it hit completely different this time around
2 pretty okay songs but the rest are super good

85->80
I was overrating it that listen it’s still solid but not touching some of his other work

Capo - G.L.O.N.L.
78

Super fun record
Basically watered down chief keef but still good

Miles Davis - Dark Magus
37

Pockets of good stuff here and there but incredibly inconsistent
Song will be in the greatest groove ever then throw it all away with the worst thing you’ve ever heard
Length didn’t bother me too much on his stuff like get up with it but it does here
Only consistently good thing here is the drumming

Rich Gang - Tha Tour Part 1
76

Good music all around
No noticeable low points really but still felt like it dragged on a little too long
The beats aren’t always the best
The rapping from thug and quan are both great

Kodak Black - Heart of the Projects
78

The beats are insane on here
I never thought i would really like kodaks music based off what I know of his newer stuff but this blew me away
It’s a little inconsistent tho and like 6 songs could be taken off
Super catchy and full of personality and charm

Bathory - Blood Fire Death
79

Riffs not as good as on self titled but it has the best solos
The drumming can be a little simple at time
This was their most fun album with their best stuff yet

Wild Up & Christopher Rountree - Julius Eastman, Vol. 1: Femenine
78

Very interesting album
Very pretty music
It’s hard to distinguish song to song for me but I think that’s a personal problem
Works better as a full project than for something to just put on for fun

Bladee & Ecco2k - Crest
80

76->80
Bladee and Ecco both do a great job on here providing an incredibly solid album front to back that’s needed lots of listens to grow on me surprisingly

Black Unity Trio - Al-Fatihah
53

I like the last 2 songs quite a bit but the only redeemable parts of the others to me is the drumming
I can see why someone would love this it’s just not my type of music

Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark
37

Worse instrumentals
Worse vocals
Somehow worse sound quality and mixing
By far their most boring release
Most the solos are pretty bad as well

Yung Lean - Psykos
50

65->50
I appreciate lean and bladee trying something new here but the vocal performances are pretty mediocre all the way around and the instrumentals can be a little boring
I’m happy it’s shorter and they didn’t try to do a full length project of this style
I only really take 2 songs from here

Juice WRLD - The Party Never Ends
54

Song selection could definitely could’ve been better
Putting a kid laroi song on here is crazy
Some good stuff on here but the bad stuff is really bad bringing it down a lot

Bathory - The Return......
62

Mixing is so ass here
Everything is pretty decent just a step down from the self titled

Dadawah - Peace and Love
71

The first 2 songs were pretty good but I overall really liked the “feel” the album had
The last 2 songs didn’t feel different enough from the first 2 to keep my focus and entertain me but the songs were all super meaningful and I appreciate that but it wasn’t something I necessarily want to return too for the music itself

1oneam - One Death
69

Good songs but nothing special
I am not a fan of the current era of upcoming underground rappers it will never compare to 2018 and 2021

Rx Papi & Gud - Foreign Exchange
80

The mix of lush production and aggressive rapping is done really well here
Rx papis rapping does all start to sound the same before he switches it up near the end of the record
The beats are phenomenal
The lyrics are really good and can be pretty sad at times

Bathory - Bathory
73

Black metal was still sort of forming here and I understand that
The riffs are great
Singing is good but not great
But the mixing oh boy I cannot stand the mixing here

Bladee - The Fool
84

88->84
I think the highs on here are incredible but honestly has some of his most amount of lows since his early stuff

Gavin Bryars & Philip Jeck & Alter Ego - The Sinking of the Titanic (1969-)
37

I understand there’s a concept n stuff but I don’t see why someone could think this stands out in music compared to everything else that exist
The length isn’t much of an issue if you take it at once but it completely removes replay-ability which is an important part of music as an art form to me
Even the stuff I do like, like the strings at face value I enjoy but I can find stuff similar done better without all the negatives if I wanted to hear that
I want someone to explain ... read more

On Sickboyrari - Sahel Dreamz
"@TheCartoon the first 4, let me know and can I gaal yu don’t sound like anything else he’s done really The other songs could fit on his last 2 projects easily and I already feel those albums were a move in the wrong direction being pretty generic compared to what he’s capable of which he starts to show on here again for the first time since euro glime (not a huge fan of euro glime anyways but that project was unique)"
On 久石譲 [Joe Hisaishi] - 千と千尋の神隠し [Spirited Away Soundtrack]
"@recordmusic18 the soundtrack perfectly fits the movie and I wouldn’t want a different soundtrack for such a perfect movie but on its own when treated like a normal album of music it’s not great Like the ost for the video game like a dragon kenzan it’s a bad album on its own but the feudal Japan setting fits perfect for the style of music"
On Edward Skeletrix - Museum Music
"@bloxbusters what I mean is that I don’t feel like he sat down and made music casually and it popped out like this I feel like he’s creating music with the purpose of it being experimentation which works cool with the art of it but musically I prefer that to feel like a natural part of the artist process"
