Finally I have the time and patience to write the announcement that I was going to make three weeks ago. Yeah I know, it's a lot. But I want to go straight to the point, then I'll give my short thoughts on the new Vampire Weekend album "Only God Was Above Us".
The next six months are going to be my last on the site as a "part-time reviewer". If there are going to be big and long reviews of album it's going to be about stuff that I like REALLY enjoyed or from someone that I ... read more
Hi! How are you doing? I'm fine, but soon I'll make an announcement: I just need to find a way to write it in a nice and precise way. Either way, while I'm enjoying a lot the Kendrick and Drake disses, I still need to write some review of something. But I'm not really in the mood to talk about a big and long project. So instead, I'll talk a little EP today! And that is the first project from rapper and new TikTok sensation Niky Savage titled "È (BANGER)"! This guy, as I've ... read more
Here I am, after a long time, finally reviewing one of the most hyped and awaited italian albums of the year! Of course, I'm talking about the third full length project from producer and composer MACE titled "MĀYĀ"! It's not the first time I've reviewed one of his projects, as last year I reviewed the 2022 project "OLTRE", a magnificent instrumental project that served as a way to experiment with sounds and other stuff! This project, however, seems to be much more similar ... read more
I know, "Māyā" by MACE just dropped and I'm seriously hyped to listen to that album, but today I'm also a bit tired and I need something that isn't an hour long to listen to. That review will come soon, but now let's talk about the sophomore project from singer and rapper Rose Villain titled "Radio Sakura"! After an extremely successful 2023 after the release of her first project "Radio Gotham", this singer is back after only a year for a new project! She really ... read more
Speaking of albums that I'm interested in hearing, here we have the first full length project from italian producer STABBER titled "TRUENO"! Here we have another example of a producer album that follows in the footsteps of many contemporaries! This guy has been around since the start of the 2010s by producing tracks for Artificial Kid, a collab tape between the rapper Danno and DJ Craim! In the following years, STABBER has given his blessing on production for many others in many ... read more
Woah! Another review already! Yep, today I'll be reviewing an album that I wanted to talk about since january actually! That is the third full length project from the jack of all trades Any Other titled "Stillness, Stop: You Have A Right To Remember"! Speaking of artists that have an unusual sound, Adele Altro has gained the attention not only of italian but also of international listeners because of it! This was also a project that people were actually waiting for, finally dropping ... read more
New review! After a bad album, I hope to review something much better! This time, I'll talk about the fifth LP from producer, singer and songwriter Cosmo titled "Sulle ali del cavallo bianco"! This artist is one of the most interesting that the italian music scene can offer, as this musician has been on the very thin line that separates the mainstream from the underground these last few years! After the very well received "La terza estate dell'amore" and features for Achille ... read more
Hi! There's a quick little spring break in Italy so I have some time to talk review! And today we're starting off with the sophomore studio album from trapper Tony Effe titled "ICON"! In the past I've talked about some of his features on other albums and to be completely fair to him I've never really liked nor disliked what he does on a track. He always does the same stuff with the same identical flows, but at the same time he has that charisma and delivery that kinda makes him stand ... read more
Almost forgot about this one! After an interesting collaboration with the legendary band Converge, the queen of industrial Chelsea Wolfe released "She Reaches Out to She Reaches Out to She", an absolutely fenomenal return to form! This album is basically a starter pack to the industrial and gothic genres, with chilling atmospheres, great singing and genuinely haunting sounds and lyrics! Given that I was a big fan of the singles released, I was really anticipating this release but even ... read more
Oh wow! I'm actually reviewing a new italian project! This time it's another important one, as I'll be talking about the sophomore project from rapper Kid Yugi titled "I NOMI DEL DIAVOLO"! I've already talked about this rapper only last year, as he dropped the collaborative EP "Quarto di Bue" with producer Night Skinny! I really liked that project and I'm honestly pretty excited to hear this one! This guy can rap in a pretty grimy way and delivers some pretty good lines ... read more
This was almost released two months ago... well better late than never! The sophomore project from The Smile (Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead fame + Tom Skinner of Sons of Kemet) titled "Wall of Eyes" is genuinely what I wanted from the previous project! It's really a mixture of what makes Radiohead great, from the vocals to the instrumentals, with what makes Sons of Kemet great! There's a lot of atmosphere on these songs which stand out while also giving a lot of space to ... read more
Of course one of my favourites that I've heard last month had to be the latest mixtape from Quadeca himself titled "SCRAPYARD"! Last year I avoided talking about the singles that he had released simply because they were all leading up to this project and I just wanted to review this one as a whole, but just to clarify I genuinely loved basically every song leading up to this project! This is genuinely anything but a scrapyard, as the singer, songwriter, rapper or anything that you may ... read more
What was a big surprise in my opinion is the amount of quality present in this latest Future Islands record! I may be biased because I'm kinda into this very nostalgic and kinda sad type of synthpop, but at the same time "People Who Aren't There Anymore" is, again, in my opinion, their strongest project so far! I do agree that the tracks that end the album aren't as strong as the ones on the first half and I really don't like when an artist or a band releases an exaggerated amount of ... read more
Speaking of good rock music, the debut project from The Last Dinner Party is seriously impressive! To be honest, I didn't really know a lot about the band, but after listening to single after single I quickly became a fan! The fact that this group on their debut album has a lot of chemistry and cohesion is just fantastic! They have a lot of energy and the deep cuts are basically on the same level as the singles! There's some good lyrics here as well and the album is fluid, as it progresses ... read more
I need to get back in motion with some reviews, so I'll briefly talk about some projects that I liked that I listened to last month! Starting with this latest one from punk act The Chisel which is an absolute rager! I really loved basically all the singles that they've released before dropping the album and the deep cuts are almost all basically on the same level of energy and urgency! The sound is rough but the band is genuinely full of energy: the know how to write something that is ... read more
Hi! I'm back! I haven't reviewed a single italian album this February so here I am, catching up on some albums from this year! Starting with the latest one from italian superstar Mahmood titled "NEI LETTI DEGLI ALTRI"! As much as I've talked about this artist on this site, I've actually never reviewed an entire project from him! I really don't think that there's anything to say about this artist, but I was surprised to see the reactions to this project: a lot of people were really ... read more
Holy shit it's actually time. I'll give the track a few more listenes and think about it a bit more, but from my first few listens I'm actually so damn hyped about this!
Edit: Yeah it's a great introduction to what is probably going to be the end of a very long story and of an era of twenty one pilots! At least that's what I hope it's going to be! Welcome back to Trench everyone!
Hi, my name is Manuel, known as just MAN on AOTY. I’ve been on this site since 2020. I have given reviews to thousands of albums and hundreds of singles. I wanted to celebrate 2000 followers with a special review of an album that people really waited a long time to hear, which was “VULTURES 1” by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign. I wanted to make a review similar to the “UTOPIA” one of the “Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers” one. However, a lot of stuff ... read more
And finally, to close things out for good, we have the final track presented at the 2024 edition of the Sanremo festival! This is "FRAGILI" by rapper Il Tre! This guy, as I've said before, is a rapper that has been around for a bit of time, putting out mixtapes and being known for having a great talent for freestyling in a similar fashion to Fred De Palma! While his more sentimental albums "ALI" and "INVISIBILI" weren't really well received, his aggressive rapping ... read more
