Now, this one, I don't really know how to talk about this track in particular. This is "Vai!", the track by the young singer Alfa! He is a guy that can sing and also rap a little bit and has been around for a bit, with albums like the 2019 release "Before Wanderlust" and the 2021 project "Nord"! He also appeared as a feature of the italian version of the pretty famous track by Rosa Linn titled "Snap", a track that partecipated at the Eurovision song ... read more
Talking about a boring track, here we have "SPETTACOLARE" by the singer Maninni! When he was announced a lot of people just asked themselves: "Who the fuck is Maninni?". That became a bit of a meme in Italy, but after some research I found out that he has been making music for a while and was already pretty close at partecipating at the Sanremo festival last year actually! He was in the Sanremo Giovani roster when 6 of them had the opportunity of making it to the Sanremo ... read more
After the great run of songs that we had before, next it's the Fred De Palma track "IL CIELO NON CI VUOLE"! Already talked about Fred De Palma in the past, but even though I'm not a fan of the track, I have to commend him that at least it's not reggaeton! JVLI helped in production of this track and it's easily the best part of a track that otherwise is boring and annoying. Fred really doesn't have any sort of charisma: he's just incredibly annoying and the lyrics are incredibly ... read more
And finally, to end the streak of great songs, we have an actual underdog story! This is "l'amore in bocca" by the duo SANTI FRANCESI! These guys come directly from the Sanremo Giovani program, but before that they were actually a trio called The Jab! After a first failed attempt at making it big, they became a duo and partecipated at the 2022 edition of X Factor and won the whole thing! I was happy about the fact that they made it to Sanremo because these guys really have a lot of ... read more
We really have a nice run of songs that I really liked and it's continuing with the track from Rose Villain titled "CLICK BOOM!". Rose is really having her deserved big moment because she can sing, she can rap and has developed a personality that finally isn't annoying! Sixpm helped on production on this track and it definitely helps to highlight her voice and the big dance break after the very sentimental and emotional chorus! I'm actually pretty hyped for her next album coming next ... read more
Next is the new Dargen D'Amico track titled "Onda Alta", one of the biggest political statements of the entire festival! I'll review his new album "Ciao America" sooner rather than later, but either way I really like the track in its entirety and I have high expectations for that project! This track uses the exact same structure as his hit "Dove Si Balla", except that the lyrics are actually some of the best of the entire competition! Of course, it's all about the ... read more
Next track comes from it-pop / indie pop superstar Gazzelle and it's titled "Tutto Qui"! Gazzelle has been around for years at this point, being one of the leaders of the indie pop movement of the late 2010s in Italy with the likes of Calcutta and Carl Brave! He actually dropped an album last year titled "DENTRO" which I wanted to review but didn't really have the time to actually do that. Either way, this track marks his debut at the Sanremo festival after a pretty ... read more
Next is a track that fortunately I really liked from the beginning to the end of the festival and that really didn't deserve it's placement at 28th! It's "GOVERNO PUNK" by bnkr44! I was really happy to see them at the Sanremo festival because this really means that anyone can make it if they are original enough! "GOVERNO PUNK" is catchy and a great gateway for new listeners to discover their material! It's similar to a lot of their other tracks and even if it's more pop it's ... read more
Next is the latest Mr.Rain track titled "DUE ALTALENE"! Following his 3rd place last year, people expected a lot from this song, but in the end he arrived 17th in the final rankings. There were a lot of premises around this song, like for example the fact that this is his first track where he tells a true story that was told to him! However, the end result is just another really boring track from Mr.Rain. It's an overall improvement when it comes to the instrumental and the singing ... read more
However, there's another track that is one of the worst of this Sanremo festival: "Pazzo di te" by the duo Renga Nek! Again, I have to make the same identical premise about artists that could have made better tracks but are actual icons in italian music. Francesco Renga was the leader of the band Timoria during the 80s and 90s and as a solo artist the track "Angelo" is really iconic! Meanwhile, Nek has always been a solo artist with a huge catalogue of music and hits, ... read more
Next is the track from popstar and previous Sanremo winner Emma titled "Apnea"! I've already reviewed her 2022 track "Ogni Volta È Così" that participated at that edition of the Sanremo festival and just to keep things short, this new track, produced by JVLI and written with the help of expert writer Davide Petrella, is another fun one! Emma delivers a much more dancable track that is just really groovy and fits around her voice in a great way! I would have ... read more
Oof, here we go with another track that I honestly didn't really like that much: the new one from the now duo Ricchi e Poveri titled "Ma non tutta la vita"! Now, I have to give the same premise that I gave to Loredana Bertè and Fiorella Mannoia: these guys are legends that have delivered some of the best hit songs of the 80s. Tracks like "Sarà perché ti amo" and "Mamma Maria" are known basically all around the world and leading up to the ... read more
Next in line is the track by rapper and singer BigMama titled "La rabbia non ti basta"! Another very young partecipant at the Sanremo festival, BigMama has been around for only a few years but has still gained the attention of other popular artists! She got the opportunity to shine actually last year, when after dropping her debut "Next Big Thing" she got invited by Elodie on the cover night of the Sanremo festival to rap and sing over "American Woman" by Lenny ... read more
Next is the song by the singers Il Volo titled "Capolavoro"! I know that these three guys are incredibly popular all over the world so there's no need to introduce them anyway. Either way, this track is Il Volo by the numbers. It's a much more chill version of their previous Sanremo entry "Grande Amore" and really I get the intention of creating another big ballad for the festival. It's unfortunate that the lyrics are really bland and uninspired, especially the chorus. It's ... read more
Here we are, finally, reviewing the winner of the 2024 edition of the Sanremo festival! Of course, it's "La noia" by Angelina Mango! I've already talked about her music in the past, but I wanted to mention a few things before going into my review! First, I wasn't the biggest fan of her single "Che t'o dico a fa'" but I really did like the following single "Fila indiana" where she demonstrates her big talents as a singer! Secondly, I need to mention her cover of her ... read more
Another track that I wish was just a little better is the track from band The Kolors titled "UN RAGAZZO UNA RAGAZZA"! Never talked about this band either so I'll give you a little bit of information about them! These guys have been around since 2014, they are a trio and the singer of the band has decided to use the stage name Stash, so I'll refer to him with his stage name! They have two albums out and on their second project called "You" they have a Gucci Mane feature. Yep, ... read more
Next in line is the Alessandra Amoroso track titled "Fino a qui", which arrived 9th at this year's Sanremo festival! Even if she's one of the most popular pop singers in Italy, I've never talked about her music before! This was her first ever partecipation at the festival and it was finally time actually because she's been around since 2009! As I've said, she's still incredibly popular, with her most recent hit being the 2022 track "Camera 209"! This year she presented a ... read more
I'll finish today with the most controversial track of the entire festival: it's the Geolier track titled "I P' ME, TU P' TE"! How was this controversial? Well of course because Sanremo is the festival of the italian song and to many neapolitan isn't italian so it's a bad track because of that. Well those people are just dumb: singer Nino D'Angelo made tracks for Sanremo in neapolitan, the rapper Rocco Hunt made a Sanremo track with neapolitan parts in it and even the group Tazenda ... read more
After two great tracks, what could possibly ruin everything here? Well of course, it's the worst track of this Sanremo festival, "Pazza" by the rock and pop legend Loredana Bertè! And look, I absolutely don't think that Loredana is a bad artist, far from it! Loredana is one of the queens of italian pop and rock and her catalogue is absolutely full of hits and iconic moments! At the time, she was one of the greatest voices that Italy had to offer in general and she definitely ... read more
A track that is unfortunately pretty underrated in my opinion is the great ballad brought by Diodato titled "Ti muovi"! Never talked about Diodato here, weirdly enough, but in my opinion even after winning the 2020 Sanremo festival with "Fai rumore" he's still one of the most underrated artists in the italian music scene! This is a really great ballad that makes a perfect use of the orchestra typical of the Sanremo festival! The whole track feels like and artistic statement ... read more
