Harry Styles feels like a blip to me. He has been a part of my childhood (via 1D) and then he had some exciting solo releases (like the self titled and his magnum opus, Fine Line). Fine Line came at the right time personally- the album came during the Disco Revival of the Pandemic. Fine Line felt really creative, or it is nostalgia talking- I listen to that album every now and then.
Harry's House, the second one in this trilogy, if we can consider Fine Line as the first installment, was ... read more
MannaBananaShak Album Hoarding #1
2000
Voodoo
D Angelo
I guess we are a bit late to the party. But what a magnificent piece of art this record is. The album is smooth like good wine. Like Honey being dropped over your head. There is a lot of 1960s Jazz influence dropped on this record, and it makes the record even more juicier. Yes, appropriately, very sensual in it's tone.
Probably on my list as an AOTY contender.
I have to relisten to this.
This week, we got two new things. They aren’t really new things, rather a mouthwash of the same old stuff from 2024. The IPhone 17, now with a shinier tint and a new casing but it is the same IPhone again. And then the new Taylor Swift album. It has a new coating, wrapped in plastic from the theatres of Paris, but it is the same old album.
Taylor Swift is big. And real big. She fills up stadiums like no one else, she fills up theatres for her concert film like no one else, she is a ... read more
What is a Friday without The Cure? The band that found meaning in it’s own cynicism and gave us some of the most intimate pieces of music. The Cure is sadly also the last piece of it’s era when Teenage angst was homoerotic and not whiny.
But on a serious note, I love The Cure. Robert Smith is a god gifted poet, whose life stories spoke to us. There will be multiple generations who will go through phases of self destruction only to find themselves, and the music of The Cure will ... read more
Picture this. You just listen to a bunch of records. The albums are fine. But that’s boring. Then, you decide to find another album to listen to. You go to AOTY.org. There’s a new Soccer Mommy record this week. But wait a minute. You see this album of a bunch of punk kids and a girl raising her top. This album catches your memory.
You play this record. And you are welcomed by a lady screaching expletives on top of her voice.
That’s Amyl and the Sniffers. A pub punk band from ... read more

Picture this, 2020.
We were all locked in our houses of course, the Covid Monster was raging. But in one way, it was the most exciting time to be a KPop fan.
On one side, BTS ruled 2020 and the early half of 2021, they sold records left and right and would achieve their first No 1 Hit with Dynamite( which is a 10) according to me. Blackpink also dropped their first album aptly titled The album which had some songs that were memorable, HYLT(7.5), Ice ... read more
L: we have the saddest fall in KPop
Loona- Hold my Pocari Sweat
Bad joke aside. Loona will always be the middle child of Fourth Generation KPop. Right now, in a KPop atmosphere where everyone sells a million copies on debut, NewJeans's brand of Bedroom pop being on top of the world and KPop beinf unstoppable in it's quest towards world domination, it's kinda trafic that we have forgotten about one of the pioneers of the generation.
Loona might have been a meme but they were genuinely ... read more
When Sour came out, it was everywhere. And this was my response.
" Will she be able to return with a similar feat"
GUTS puts my questions to rest. Atleast commercially, this album has produced another No 1 and that means something.
Well, there are two reactions. For me, this is personally better than Sour. As someone on this page said, this feels perfectly cooked, well produced. Olivia Rodrigo does have a penchant for writing catchy numbers unlike her followers (GAYLE, Dove ... read more
Thirty Seconds to Mars, known for two things. That song called The Kill and being Jared Leto's band.
Just like Jared Leto's career, it's surprising that we as an audience allowed this band to get huge. Just as I am surprised to know Mr Leto has an Oscar, I am surprised to know this band has at one point, been a staple of Modern Rock.
And this album represents everything wrong with Modern Rock. A generation that tries to please Pop radio so badly that it has forgotten that we need Guitars. No, ... read more
The post lockdown generation has introduced us to a large amount of woman poets whose music not only serves as a medium for other woman to feel solace but also make them feel that they aren't alone.
Mitski is one of them. One of my favourites among them. I was bored so I decided to read the Spotify about page and it was a description about this album.
Mitski is a great lyricist. Her tracks can take you through her state of mind of hopeless longingness, heartbreak and a need for intimacy. The ... read more
We are in a Re-Nas-sance
Nas has had highs and lows. a career that has spanned more than 30 years, and yet he is relavent among hip hop heads. One of the reasons for his Renaissance is his will to innovate but not at the cost of adapting completely to the trap landscape. He still retains the classic sound that made him aj icon.
Magic 3 is rather cinematic, there is more emphasis on making the sound grand rather than the ballroom vibe of Magic 2. At this point, Hitboy's brilliance cannot be ... read more
As an appreciation to the year 1994 for the year Rock, a tragic year for rock music as a whole as we lost a generation defining artist Kurt Cobain. But at the same time, it was a wild year for rock music
Today we talk about Downward Spiral
Downward Spiral is The Nine Inch Nail's second studio album followed by their first studio album Pretty Hate Machine released in 1989 and Broken and Fixed, the two EPs released in the year 1992 under their previous record label TVT. Trent Reznor, the face ... read more
