Magic 3 sits alongside King's Disease III and Magic at the apex of this legendary run. This is hip-hop history, indeed.
Reaching greater and greater heights, ‘Magic 3’ could well be Nas and Hit-Boy’s finest hour together – the closure of this chapter allows us to analysis their relationship, but you’re still left yearning for more.
Like other chapters in this saga, he spends a lot of time talking about the beginning of his journey. Hence, it makes sense that, sonically, it’s the most reminiscent of the mid-1990s era when he debuted.
For an artist who was written off several times in his career, and even himself wrote off the genre he helped popularize completely, Magic 3 puts the stamp on one of the most interesting late-career series in Hip Hop history, a feat that may never be duplicated.
Magic 3 is everything special about this 6-LP run and certainly an excellent effort from modern rap’s most surprisingly stellar partnership, and it’s everything that might have been left behind. It was a hell of a time while it lasted.
Despite its larger scale, this to-be final installment of Nas and Hit-Boy's fruitful collaborative run has the mixed bag quality of the other two Magics.

Well, this is far from being one of the best ... read more

Nas is just going through the motions on 90% of the album, granted, he still raps well (good flows, good delivery) but nothing that peaks my interest
this is upsettingly almost good, like there's nothing wrong with it but this album just feels so low effort
production is very clean, like too clean, and most beats sound rather similar (not literally but i can notice the "trend", the "motif")
Nas again is really uninteresting, i know aging is a natural process but damn ... read more
