While not all of Magic 2 is this strong, there are several moments like this one that can contend with the best of the King's Disease material.
For a legendary emcee who has seemingly found the fountain of lyrical youth, Magic 2 is appropriately titled and artistically astounding for its ability to capture the duality of one of hip-hop’s most revered lyricists.
Magic 2 has a high floor as a rehashing of a proverbial tried and true formula of a Nas and Hit-Boy collaboration. It can still be magical, but you’re left with the sense that Hit could use a few new tricks.
One of rap’s most consistent creatives continues where Magic left off with a spontaneous, casual record.
Like its predecessor, Magic 2 only does enough to whet your appetite for Nas and Hit-Boy's next core collab.
It's sadly quite rare in hip hop, where a veteran is putting out good music so late into their career. This man has been in the game for over 3 decades and is going as strong as ever. The man is back, The wizard himself, The king, Nasty Nas, With another album in the "Magic" series. I actually heard the first project in this series and I liked it quite a bit, So I was expecting another solid release especially after last year's "King's Disease III". This is one of my favorite Nas Albums, even though it’s not even close to the best ones.
Fun fact, I’m pretty sure that this is my first Nas Album I listened through Front and back, but I guess the reason this is my favorite is just the type of vibes it brings.
Unlike the first Magic, this record definitely gives "leftovers" impression. Nas should have known 50 is washed in 2023. He ruined that song.
