Incredibly respectful post death release, it truly does feel like Mac. Even though it's not the hottest thing for me I can see the vision, and over all I genuinely enjoyed my time with this album.
do yall know how hard it is to sound like an AI deepfake of yourself while rapping? This is why Ben is ahead of the game
"Monarch of Monsters" is a edgy cringe fest trying to be deep, while being a puddle on the road. The constant barrage of self loathing and a massive lack of self accountability makes this a very hard listen. Some of the lyrics are so extra that I genuinely started chuckling and rolling my eyes "Gotta take it like the bitch I am..." "Spare no kindness to the wolf that howls... awooo" "Yet they've never seen my fangs", ma'am you are in your mid ... read more
This is so mid lol, I don't know what everybody else is hearing but I has to be different than what I'm listening to. You know when the best verse you've ever written is a 6/10 at best you're really trash, Carti was never good, will never be good, and should've never gotten any amount of fame for the level of music he makes. Only reason it's getting a 50 is cause the weekends verse was somewhat decent. If this dude is somehow the personification of music then I can ... read more
The amount of masterful story telling on this track wonderfully told by Jermaine Cole (otherwise known as "J Cole") is pure bliss.
We follow Cole and his interactions and adventures with this promiscuous women throughout the 3 minutes and 55 seconds in musical heaven. Though we never learn the women's name we hear Cole mention her nick name "Grippy" very early in the track, he then goes on to explain why she earned this nickname, "Grippy, Grippy, Grippy, I call ... read more
For sure an emotional listen, with some amazing highlights of vocal and instrumental talent, but it slowly started falling off by the end of the project. Overall I think Mac delivered a very concise and detailed project that knew what it wanted to be, and I can respect any score that's way above mine, it's just that some of the tracks aren't really my thing.
Best Track: "What's the Use?" Some of the best production I've heard in a very long time, the pure ... read more
Some of the Instrumentals on this are genuinely some of the best work I have ever heard, unfortunately for the other tracks that don't have that gift it falls off a little bit. Still an amazing project, but it definitely could've reached further.
Knocked loose continues to impress me, after hearing "You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To" I decided to look at their older projects, and It amazing to me how consistent they've been over the years. For sure worth a listen to anyone that has any interest in metal-core.
The best, bone rattling, ear blasting, metal-core possibly ever made.
I had heard of Knocked Loose just by name before, but never checked them out until now, and what a mistake that was. This album really showed me what they can do, and it didn't disappoint. Throughout my first listen It just sounded like a constant brigade of sound, it feels like you're just being surrounded by pure insanity, and I think that's what they were going for.
I also really liked how they didn't ... read more
I really don't know if I'm just not big brained or deep enough to understand why people like this. I listened to this after hearing the hype and finally did a full listen through, and its just.... confusing? It's spooky, and unsettling, but nothing else really of music substance. There is a real lack of rhythm, structure, or pretty much any other musical concept.
Just because something is super out there and "not like the mainstream stuff" doesn't make it good. ... read more
Steve's best work, I find he truly bit every bit of himself into this song. His other stuff is fine, but this song is just something else. One of the few times I'm happy a song blow up on short form content like this did. One of the very few times I would call a song almost perfect.
For it being sad boy music it's decent, over the 2 years I've come back to it a few times, and even saw him live. And I can say this album hasn't really shrunk on me, but it hasn't grown on me either, maybe it just got slightly winkled in the washer machine.
The hits on this are actually really good, stuff like YUKON, Die For You, and Glimpse of us, have great production and singing, it's sad boy music done completely right. But this comes to jojis biggest issue... his ... read more
The Money Store is for sure something that I won't really listen to in my free time, save maybe a few songs. But in terms of a cohesive album experience it's nothing like I've ever heard before.
The pure experimental value is worth a listen even if you don't end up liking it, it simply just hypnotizes you in it's extreme, aggressive off the wall vocals and beats. Listening to this in multiple trips instead of all the way through is a a complete disservice to yourself. ... read more
GNX is definitely in the lower half of Kendrick albums, but that's fine. Even though I don't think it's on the same level of TPAB or GKMC it's still an incredibly enjoyable listen, with Kendrick even saying himself on one of the tracks that this is meant to be a more simple album that's just meant to be enjoyed, with no deep hidden messages. Overall I think this is a good break between his deeper more thought provoking projects, and his just a damn good time to listen ... read more
As far as hip-hop goes this is a monument of production, rapping, and singing all constructed into a amazing cohesive project.
"To pimp a butterfly" is Kendrick's magnum opus, using expert story telling and production with the main theme being discrimination and racism. The tracks range from amazing combinations of jazz and funk with hip-hop, to traditional almost NAS type hip-hop beats. Over all I genuinely think this is the best rap album to come out of the 2010s, if not the ... read more
Easily systems best, the combination of Serj's unique, staccato vocals combined with the amazing instrumentals is nu-metal at it's best. also Daron is an extremely under-rated singer that could easily be on the same level of Serj with a bit more dedication to vocals instead of guitar, and I think that really shows on this project.
