I went into this knowing that it was probably the GOAT, but I don't think I could even predict just how incredible it was. Holy shit.
Paramore might actually be the best example of that one meme of a golden trash bag surrounded by literal garbage. The rest of this is completely sterile at best and offensively terrible at worst.
It's as amazing as people tell you it is. There's only two songs that didn't really click with me and even still they're well above an 8/10. Well deserving of it's lofty status on this website.
I enjoyed this a LOT more than I was anticipating. Pretty enjoyable front to back, some really catchy and fun songs thrown in there as well.
Really great, although the individual songs felt a bit hit-or-miss. They still all work together to create a wonderful experience that still works incredibly well even in the duller or lesser moments.
This was my first Kendrick album, and it was so much better than I ever could have imagined. I really really loved this, and will absolutely listen to the rest of his stuff.
EDIT: Coming back to this nearly a year later, after a major falling-out with my father made this even more devastating at points. This is easily his second best album, and I think it's a hell of a lot closer to TPAB's (best) level than it is to GKMC (3rd best).
So vulnerable and make me truly feel something. Really really damn great.
Yeah he cooked with this. It's actually insane how good this works as a song as well.
I heard this song one time last week, and it's been stuck in my head since then. I'm not even mad, this songs so funky. My only gripe is it has a needlessly loud snare that kinda overpowers everything else on the mix. What an excellent pop song. The vibes are immaculate.
Yeah it's pretty alright. SWGDS and Dance Dance are pretty epic though, even if the latter of the two doesn't sound like it's from the same band compared to the rest of the album.
Despite being the first album from the band, it is still a gripping and magnificently crafted experience that is worth returning to as more than a novelty. Even if it's on the shorter side, the tracks that are here are all good at the worst, and amazing at their best.
A third album in seventeen months, this has the band fully go in the direction of quantity over quality. The album just lacks that one track that makes it memorable as a whole, everything just seems to be lacking that extra pizzazz, that kick, or just that aura that you look for. I feel no strong emotions in either direction about this, even when the album was announced I deadass went "oh, another album already?". It's such a farcry from RA2, which still remains their best.
Baggage and Hey Sunshine are the only ones worth returning to, they're pretty awesome. Two albums releasing in a seven month span was definitely... the decision of all-time. There are some really not great songs on this album, and some that I would outright skip.
A very quirky and unique rock/pop album with some very fun tracks worth returning to. Unfortunately due to the mentioned quirks, when a song doesn't work it can be somewhat hard to get through at times, and does tend to drag on a bit longer than it probably should.
This is so disappointing, man. :(
I wanted this to be the farewell album that sent things off on a high note for the duo but this is easily the weakest album they've released, and they clearly thought the same considering they ditched the "farewell tour" marketing strategy and released a second final project. There's maybe two or three songs here that are really worthwhile, but the rest is unfortunately little more than filler, and are forgotten about unless you religiously listen ... read more
