IDK what everyone is complaining about cause I ain't see the gram on time. I do wanna say I think it's okay for reviewers to criticize art and for artists to criticize reviewers. It should go both ways. But maybe Ghais said sumn about his mom or sumn IDK.
Anyways, I feel like people who say they like "experimental" music like experimental music until it's actually experimental. Until it sounds like a newer style. "Oh no not trap! That's too ignorant for my ... read more
Mfers will give repetitive new wave, metal, rap, and folk a 9 and give this a 5. Y'all not tapped in.
Lana Del Rey fell down a couple flight of stairs and off a cliff so Billie Eilish could run.
Edit (100 -> 81): WTF this grew off me like crazy. Some of the songs sound more boring than I remember like damn. also I like Lana way more now.
Edit (100 -> 89): This album is back to being great again. Lana Del Rey absolutely clears her tho ngl.
This really isn't a bad project. People need to put their biases aside and remember that this was coming out even before Kendrick Lamar dissed him. J Cole has some good rapping on here and his only bad moment is in Fever. The worst part of the songs are really just some of the features and that this doesn't show much growth from "The Off Season." I mean the songs are good yeah but is it any different from something from Dreamville's Revenge of the Dreamers 3 or The Off Season? The ... read more
This is overhated, however I do think the first song is better than the second. The sound collage shit is actually pretty cool for the time and I don't think this gets enough praise for doing what it was doing in '68. However, Yoko Ono's vocals are not interesting enough to become ambient pieces on their own. I don't even find the voice that grating cause I'm used to yelling and shit in my music I just don't think leaving most of that experimental sound collage production to the way side just ... read more
Look we may not be metal enough to be Black Sabbath, we may not have enough personality to be Led Zeppelin, but what we do have is the safest rock imaginable. Rock and roll and bowl and break the social norms! Wait a second don't forget the bumpers for the gutters! Oh and don't forget the ball ramp cause rolling the ball yourself is too dangerous!
This seems like an hour long commercial about a couple (different races for the diversity quota).
RYM fans try not to rate stale indie rock (or literally any old genre that's already been beaten to death) over new and exciting trap, pop, and electronic music challenge (IMPOSSIBLE).
I really hope this ain't gon be rated lower just cause of it being trap. Remember "punk" and "metal" was considered really repetitive, basic, and not complex enough to be considered highly back in the day. This album has the atmosphere of metal, the rhythmic fun of punk, and large electronic influence as well. This is what the 2020s has been developing towards and this album is absolutely incredible. This is the kinda album that is going to age well with time. 20 years from ... read more
This album is what I imagine it's like to be conceived, be born, and experience being a human for the first time. This is like coming out the womb and seeing the sun for the first time.
I am convinced the first disc of the album is about being in the womb, being created, being just a little boy, and "bring the sun" is about leaving the womb. I am more mixed on what the second disc is about because it starts with a song about fucking ("She Loves Us") but I would love to ... read more
This feels like a whole bunch of unfinished finished music. Like I can tell these songs are done, they just all barely feel developed. The first half of this album feel like interludes. But of course it's Kanye so you know they eating dick. I will admit tho there are some good songs on the second half.
To touch on the messaging cause I have a bunch to say on this to counteract all the dickeating. Kanye didn't avoid his controversies so we cannot separate artist from art here. Kanye ... read more
Sexyy Red is obviously inspired from Chief Keef (Even the Chief Keef from his last album, 4NEM on the last two songs), Waka Flocka Flame, and generally early 2010s trap. I understand that many people would find it to be flawed for it to be copying an outdated sound. I totally agree. But what did Sexyy Red contribute? First of all, only like 2 misses (Looking for the hoes, sexyy walk) on this album, second she brings a feminine style and lyrical focus that wasn't there before in this ... read more
Peggy could've easily left this album in the mud. And I'm thankful he did come back and do something with this when he did. The original album is one of my favorites of all time. And so I was excited to hear that he was remastering it. But in retrospect, I don't know why I was? It's already basically perfect for me. So looking back I don't know why I wanted to hear a remaster. But now hearing it I am realizing that actually yeah I didn't need this. The only song that had a cool different spin ... read more
