I feel like this album is the perfect follow up to what I feel was their better album "Born Into Hell Put Here To Suffer", and the more I listen to it, the more enamored I become. While their debut definitely holds on top for me, "Shades of a Shallow Grave" has much more emotion and flow to it. It ditches a lot of the noisier aspects of the 1st record, in favor of flavorful atmosphere.
2010's generic Sworn In-core that did what it needed to do. A big bonus to this records score is the intro, followed by the next track. The rest of the album doesn't really do much different, and just exists to remain yet another decent clone.
What a harrowing album. Let's jump to the fucking chase here, this album absolutely takes everything you love about powerviolence & sludge and turns it into the purest form of aural panic. The samples set to unease, then everything kicks in. No matter how they approach it, the song is bound to make you feel something may it be a sense of dread or hate. It's a shame this tape is so short in length, but I suppose that is the underlying beauty in this release. It's fast and gnarly. The vocals are perfect and it's an unending assault of noise until the very end.
7 songs never felt so quick, yet so long-winded. I have to sit and take a breather after listening to this.
