Expectations for this project were set fairly high by me, considering certain songs from the “RUFFS” mixtape. And so, the first two songs might not fully reach the mark, even though they definitely aren't bad, but they're just missing something, unlike the last one, which definitely has that "special something". "100 or Nun" starts off interestingly, with that sort of snoozy "hey" that seems to be uttered half-awake at the end of a dream. Very ... read more
The LP "Gumbo" is a moderately distinctive project within its genre, with typical Atlanta lyrics that contribute nothing (aside from some personal depictions of a difficult life) - mostly drugs, violence, money, women, etc. The intro of the first track, "Brussel Sprout", irritates me a bit. On top of that, the ad-libs are amusingly cringey, and in the verse, Nudy sounds like he's just talking fast. The beat strongly reminds me of Carti's cloud-rap style from 2017, ... read more
After listening to the LP "Better Luck In The Next Life", I truly understand why Chiiild calls his music synthetic soul - it simply fits the term. The project opens with psychedelic soul in the form of "Le Départ", which sounds very nice but is too short. The song has a warm and deep atmosphere, provoking us to enter this world - and this is just a foretaste. The next, "Get it Got it", on the other hand, is smooth funk with a clear jazz influence, and Adi ... read more
Don Toliver continues his career by dropping another album in his discography – "Love Sick". The Houston-born artist brought together a lineup of various top-tier producers. Many of the songs are divided into two parts (a bit like a inner tear that can be interpreted as lovesick). Connected to the LP title, the opening "LoveSickness" starts off very '80s, then with the lyrics shifts direction towards dark, slightly psychedelic pop, somehow reminding me a bit of a ... read more
