"@Aoaystheory i think trying to judge music by it's "objective" quality is a trap to avoid falling into. those measures of quality you mentioned are a very shaky way of attempting to assess music. something you would describe as "basic song-writing" isn't necessarily objectively bad, neither are poor production value or unoriginal lyrics. while i agree with these criticisms of this album based on what i've heard from it, what we perceive as something like these criticisms IS subjective in terms of how we feel it detracts from the music. For example, while how well a piece of music is produced is technically an objective discussion, whether or not the music is better or worse because of that is subjective."
