man, getting two releases from one band this year is a hell of a nice treat. unfortunately, this one kind of lacked a little more in the energy and consistency departments. maybe i'll give it another listen soon
this post-PfW EP is a pure definition of "short but sweet", though pure may not be the best word to describe this brutal, apocalyptic album
enjoyable, but the choice by roadrunner to not have scott burns as the producer for this album was a costly one in terms of quality
not entirely into the vocals. other than that, beautiful traditional doom with some sick ass memorable riffs
listening to this again. needless to say, it's a timeless masterpiece that's relentlessly brutal and aggressive as all hell. this album deserves WAY more attention than it gets
starts out strong, has its solid moments, but starts to sound a tad samey. regardless, this is a very solid debut
some pretty violent swedish osdm. while the first couple songs didn't do a lot for me, the overall sound grew on me as the album progressed. definitely a must listen for dm as a whole
i love this kind of doomy + angry bdm, not a single track here lost my interest. reminds me a tad bit of early paradise lost
this album was a mostly fun one, but i agree with others, it doesn't end quite as strong as it started
i swear this band just cannot miss. while this album isn't quite as avant-garde as their prior album, this still delivers such a fun + memorable technical experience where every song is a hit
morbid angel was one of the first death metal bands i ever listened to, so i have a lot of respect for them, and this album made me respect them even more. while it's not quite on the level of altars of madness and arguably not quite as thrashy, this album was thoroughly enjoyable and i never got bored with it
i respect the hell out of this band for making this sound in '87 and doing it right. i personally wasn't all that interested, but this was still quite an enjoyable listen
not as musically heavy as other melodeath bands/albums, but that's not such a bad thing, because in turn, it's emotionally heavy. these melancholic melodies are very dynamic and passionate, and are part of what make this album so beautiful and memorable
very satisfying dutch death metal. while it's nothing too unique in the vast world of dm, every song was full of an aggression and relentlessness that made it thoroughly enjoyable and fun
a semi-hidden gem that's VERY traditional sounding and heavily reminiscent of black sabbath. tim's vocals are not entirely my thing, but those riffs really make up for it
this is VERY GOOD from a technical standpoint. unfortunately, in terms of the album as a whole, it's kinda boring and not as fun as what epitaph would be
man, october 1991 has to be one of the single most stacked months for death metal. in the span of just 31 days, we were blessed with human, effigy of the forgotten, unquestionable presence, necroticism, and of course, considered dead. while this album is no erosion of sanity or obscura, it definitely deserves more flowers than it gets
this album isn't quite on the level of its predecessor, but it's still quite a banger, ESPECIALLY spheres of madness. that track 100% deserves its popularity and more
