'Partyman' is great. You then have a few tracks with a good hook that fall foul of the usual Prince problem of not toning down the groove and just nailing the song e.g. 'Electric Chair', 'Trust' and 'Lemon Crush.' So they don't live up to what they could have been. Only being Ok rather than great. You then have a few slow ballads that Prince seemed to love to write.

Production wise, the keyboards and drums sound really thick. Much more heft to them ... read more

On the hunt for some Puffy AmiYumi type hooks, this is chief songwriter Tamio Okudas main band. It's got two quality rockers (tracks 1 & 3), with all the melody I was hoping for. The rest of the album is a mix of early rockabilly pastiche, less inspired uptempo tracks and the obligatory Japanese lounge jazzy type thing that you often here with these acts. 10 tracks, 40 mins. They turn in some strong songs on this one. The two lead singles are great, especially 'I Just Can't Get Over Losing You.' I can see that having some legs in the coming years.

Gather Round, Bring You Down are some highlights. They have a solid baseline of quality. Sometimes they over achieve. Sometimes under. But ... read more

Look at the relic of an album cover this has. Pure late 90s, pushing the graphics card to the max, sci-fi futurism. Brilliant.

As for the music. I don't really know how to review DnB. It's not as dense as later stuff, and there seems to be more space for the synths to create some texture. I like it though. An hour passed with ease. The beats are frenetic, but the overall production is airy enough to let you get lost, whilst not feeling sophocated.

Some good tracks. Some forgettable. It's a mix of heavy tunes alongside more atmospheric ones. It's over an hour. Trim a few tracks and this would be a solid Dubstep headmangler.
