the storytelling in this album is a lot stronger, i think a lot of the tracks sound respectably unique. i can accept this amount of deviation because the songs on this album are actually good. some of them are definitely forgettable but its ALRIGHT.
this album is overrated. i honestly think its Elliott Smith's weakest album, because EVERY song on it sounds the same, and the ones that are a little original are nothing special. it's like Either/Or if it tried to be mainstream, because everything here is oddly theatric and just doesn't really emit that folk energy that his older albums had. its okay, but i pick this one last when revisiting ES.
this album would benefit from a lower quality recording, respectfully. it almost sounds WAY too polished on the official recording, but any live rendition of a song on this album makes me explode. good album
Weezer's most emo album. The only thing that stops me from liking this album more than green is how unpolished it is, and how I typically listen to all the other weezer albums to feel happy. That being said, Butterfly is SUCH a good song that is so uniquely emotional. I can pratically READ every title of each song and feel encapsulated in its world without even having to click to listen to it. I know this whole album from memory from how many times i've listened to it. Each song is ... read more
a freshman year classic, musically i think its pretty decent and encapsulates incel core pretty well. i actually really like the thematics of MKultra Victim, and SPVTWRAWGOW is insanely iconic in its own right, its a good song. not really my type of music anymore but on everyones SOUL we are bumping this when getting high.
by no means do i hate this album, I do like a lot of the songs on it. however, after hearing live renditions of "anything" but also just it being overplayed when its not the best song on the album anyway, my opinion has changed just a twee bit. Probably like an 9/10 to an 8/10.
i think all the songs are very raw in emotion, and upon the first full listen of this album I had I burst out crying.
fav songs: come, heavy focus
"I liked you better when you hated yourself, every time I think about love, I think about me thinking about you"
I do not like a lot of the songs on this album, but happy news for sadness has to be one of my favorite songs of ALL TIME.
"A small list of things that I normally would hide" is a nice piece.
treating this as poetry, i do like it, but as a music album, i'd say its (you said) okay ahhahaha
lots of tracks sound very similar, its a bit generic at times but i think its a solid listen. wouldn't go back unless for 1 or 2 particular songs.
i like this one too, my favorite song from this album is "I think you were in my profile picture once". its so raw.
this genuinely is a perfect album, i LOVE everything it stands for thematically. its revolutionary, and i haven't heard anything like it. merely irreplaceable, and i think everyone on earth should at least listen to at LEAST the title track. its very different from whats popular right now, and you definitely need some degree of refined taste to enjoy it. theres no pretentiousness in this statement, as I had first listened to ITAOTS back in my freshman year as I was very inspired by its ... read more
