Katy's third album PRISM is the point where things started to fall apart in her career. Same as Teenage Dream this album is again front loaded with some genuinely great pop songs like International Smile. When thinking of the 10's this may be the most defining album of the era. It's hard to escape this album, everyone in the world knows the hit songs and it's hard not to since she became the first female in history to earn five Billboard Hot 100 number one singles for an album. Between the fetishization of lesbians and casual homophobia, there is a lot to unpack on Katy Perry's debut album. The singles on this album are absolutely amazing and if it weren't for them this record would struggle to maintain any sense of originality or interest.
