This EP contains ISSBROKIE's highest rated song according to the Community's Top Songs section in her artist page, and now I understand why. Although I think this would fit better as a release under her "shteppi" alias, consinder all her Brokie stuff follows the "UPPERCASE!" layout and the Shteppi stuff has the "lowercase." layout, but this EP is so good!!! I'm always a sucker for shoegaze and this was definitely a project I enjoyed. It honestly ... read more
Withered Tony T on the album cover (/j). I was recommened this song by @WilWith1L himself for me to check out and give my thoughts on. The instrumental is really good during the chorus bits, but gets really boring during the verses. The vocal performance isn't really the strongest, especially on the chorus since it get super repetitive at times. One thing I'll say is that for songs like this, you REALLY want to match the energy of the beat instead of just reading the lyrics and ... read more
I'm starting to see why Laura decided to change her sound and move on from this sound and now I'm eternally grateful she's making amazing music under "key vs. locket" now because this is NOT it ✌😭. I'll cut some slack because this is obviously a 16-year-old twikipedia who's just shittin' around and was mostly just doing YouTube at the time and didn't really care about music. A lot of these songs are really bad, and I can't help but feel ... read more
Wh-Wh-What... What is this?? Ye, are we serious? The first Donda album was so good, why did you have to spit in your own mom's grave with this??? *sigh* Alright, here we go. Donda 2 is the sequel to Donda releasing only a couple of months after the first one, and saying it's underwhelming is an understatement. Being widely released exclusively off a bluetooth stem player that costs $200, which now with inflation being $236, no one could even afford to actually LISTEN to the album ... read more
We have a tie people. I know some others would clown me for having "808s & Heartbreak" and "Donda" tied for his best album, but hey, this is my deep dive, I can do whatever I want. Not gonna lie, I'm actually quite familiar with Donda. If you guys remember my "JESUS IS KING" review, the very first sentence of that review is how that album was Top 1 Ye for my mom. Well, this album is a close second because she also really likes this album a lot, and now I ... read more
"Melanie Martinez - Cry Baby" daughter or "Vince Staples - Cry Baby" son, truly the question this generation is struggling to answer (/j). In all honesty those, Vince Staples is someone I've never really been familiar with except for a couple songs here and there. So when Cry Baby first got brought into the picture, I was interested with what Vince had to offer, and it was truly amazing. The grunge rap combo is one that not a lot of people try out these days and it ... read more
This genuinely may be a contender for one of the best albums to drop this year, and I'm not even exaggerating when I say that. Like many people, I found Malcolm through TikTok and his songs "Chest Pain (I Love)" and "Bleed", both of which appear on his debut self-titled album. I also need to check that album out alongside the "Sweet Boy" mixtape. However, the focus at hand is the new album that dropped today being "Do That Again", and I ask Malcolm ... read more
I think the whole "A 'Flood' Before God" situation from a while back kind of scarred me when it comes to instrumental only albums. It's hard to listen to this without getting flashbacks to that dark time within the life of AOTY. Despite those bad times, I can still come out and say that this is a really high-quality album that deserves the praise it gets. However, it's not an album I see myself coming back to regularly since only 1 song off the album actually ... read more
"Watch The Throne" was a very monumental step in Ye's career as it was his very first official collab album, and with Jay-Z nonetheless. Jay-Z had already established himself as one of the greatest rappers of his generation (in popular opinion, I still need to fully listen to Jay-Z to come to my own conclusion on where he stands in my eyes), so having a collab album with a rising star at the time would make for great chemistry between the two. Both Jay-Z and Ye have their moments ... read more
Quick little @PlasticTrees single rec before my next album review, this song is really good!! Vocals sound a bit weird at times but it's overall still an amazing song. Definitely an insant classic in my book, also, It's indie rock, I love Indie Rock. Such a really nice song, so thank you @PlasticTrees for putting me on ;]
DELUXE TRACKS:
JOJI, WHERE THE FUCK WERE THESE SONGS ON THE ORIGINAL ALBUM?!?! These new songs bring the quality up on the original album so much and I'm not even kidding when I say that. We literally jumped from 69 to 81 because these new songs truly show Joji knows what he's doing, he just bullshittin' here and there. Also, FTC ON STREAMING!!!! MY GLORIOUS GOAT FTC IS FINALLY REAL!!!!! That's been one of my favorite Joji songs for YEARS now and finally seeing it come to ... read more
Live albums can sometimes be hit or miss, they can either improve on the original song or make them worse in a way. "Late Orchestration" is a perfect example of both being showcased in their own ways. I'm mostly considering this album a bonus entry on my deep dive as these are just songs I've already heard before from both "The College Dropout" and "Late Registration" respectively. All lot of these songs are songs I grew to love during this deep dive, but ... read more
I'm cringe but I'm free!!!! If I never knew about CG5 or knew that this song was was about Friday Night Funkin', I would just see it as a normal song that plays on the radio. Truly takes me back to the golden days of FNF before most things came crashing down. Not to mention that bridge between Charlie and Anna, TAKE ME TO HEAVEN!!!! I love this song, so good and super slept on.
To answer the question I asked on my "VULTURES 1" review, yes, I probably should've been scared. Ladies and gentlemen, our very first yellow rated project of the deep dive!!! Yea, this definitely was a rough one, even after the mixing updates people have mentioned. Don't get me wrong, there are still plenty of good songs on this album, but they're HEAVILY overweighted by the bad ones. Weird writing, weird instrumentals, stuff I usually love but it's not handled ... read more
I feel like a lot of the Ye albums I've listened to have all been 80+ in my opinion, so I feel like I've been overdue for some absolute stinkers at this point of the deep dive, so I plan on listening to "VULTURES 2" after I've taken some time to myself, I don't want to be out here spamming reviews left and right. Like KIDS SEE GHOSTS, ¥$ is a duo group consisting of Ye, and this time around, Ty Dolla $ign. This album had a lot of hype around it when it first ... read more
AYOOOOOO, THE TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN!!!!!!! Somebody please get that reference, I'm begging you. This is one of the albums out of Ye's discography that I've been MOST excited to listen to and lemme just say that it TRULY blew my expectations out the window. It deserves its status as one of the best rap albums of the 2010s, and the people here seem to agree with me considering this albums "Must Hear Album" star. The production is on point, Ye snaps like always, the album ... read more
I mentioned in my "ROCKET SCIENCE II" review that I wanted to check out the original "ROCKET SCIENCE" for a comparison between the two. Honestly, both albums are REALLY good, but "ROCKET SCIENCE II" takes the lead by a mere 3 points. You can definitely hear more polishing on the second album rather than the first, but that doesn't mean that this album isn't good either. I personally believe this album was HEAVILY carried by the last four songs because ... read more
Shoutout to @LinkyDinky for recommending your album to me, I greatly appreciate it! "ROCKET SCIENCE II" is the sequel to Morton's debut album "ROCKET SCIENCE", an album that I may check out right after finishing this one. In all honesty, this is a really good album and the sample usage is phenominal on this. The only song off this album I wasn't really the biggest fan of was the russian song, which translated into English is "IS IT TRUE". Well, I'll ... read more
Huge shoutout to @PlasticTrees for the recommendation, this EP was truly something special. I can definitely see where key vs. locket got some of her inspirations for "i felt like a sketch", so listening to this makes me even more excited for her "turn sour" album this year!!! Marquette is a band that no one really knows about other than their 2 EPs, besides those two projects, there really isn't much to learn about this band. It's sad to see that aren't ... read more
My friend started making music out of the blue, WHY IS EVERYONE IN ALL MY DIFFERENT FRIEND CIRCLES BECOMING MUSICIANS?!?! Anywhere, for a first song, this is really good!!! It's not usually the style of music I'd listen to, but I can tell a lot of love went into it. Also, myrtle says under the description under her bandcamp that she's mostly just doing these little songs for fun and don't really see themselves truly going anywhere with it, and honestly I respect. She mostly ... read more
