Snoop Dogg - 10 Til' Midnight
53

Step is my favourite Snoop Dogg song of the last 10 years which may have gotten me hooked too early onto what ultimately is a very forgettable and typical Snoop album. The songs where he tries to embrace more of an r&b vibe are actually quite nice to listen to but are dragged down by a 54 year old heavily wealthy man still talking about crip walking, gang culture and gin & juice. I feel like the small hints of a different subject matter are a sliver of hope that some day we may see ... read more

Kanye West - BULLY
70

Given the state of his recent releases and the vinyl rips pre release, this album was destined to fail. Years of delays, reworks and ai usage meant that I don't think BULLY as an album ever got the love and care of most of Ye's other solo projects. Despite all of these hurdles however, it did release as a fun if undercooked album that stands as his best in half a decade. The first 12 tracks on this album are all good tracks (if a bit short) with FATHER, PUNCH DRUNK & BULLY being ... read more

Westside Gunn - WHO MADE THE SUNSHINE
64

With what I would call some of the weakest songs in his catalogue so far (Frank Murphy, sunshine intro) the fact that I can still give this album a 64 shows that even at his weakest, Westside Gunn has a higher standard of quality than most artists

Eminem - The Eminem Show
90

More polished than his last too but more inconsistent, this album deserved to be called a classic upon release and has stood the test of time over 20 years later

Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
96

Darkar, angrier and a more twisted version of his first album, Eminem delivers career highlights on almost every song, with songs like 'Stan', 'kill you' and 'the way I am' being some of the best songs of the genre. This really defines the era of Marylin Manson, gross out and rebellion.

Eminem - The Slim Shady LP
98

Every listen to this album feels like the first time I've ever heard it. Every track has a stellar beat and memorable bars throughout. There is a kijd of cartoonish horror to this album, and it really allows it to have a very distinct and unique sound compared to other releases of the time. The pacing is also a delight, with all 59 minutes flyijng by leaving you wantimg more. The storytelling on songs like '97 bonnie and clyde', 'My fault' and 'brain damage' ... read more

Chance the Rapper - The Big Day
15

My pure thoughts during the listen:

A decent first track
First 3 tracks are nice
Hot shower is one of the worst songs of all time, like worst bars, shite flow, trash features and horrific best, it sounds like an ironicly bad rap song.
This album gets boring, like REALLY boring
Chance ruined the great title track with those verses
Legit why is it this long
Kill me
Features are trying their hardest
Ballin flossin is not terrible
Randy Newman??????
The get a bag hook is attrocious
Slide around is ... read more

Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book

What an end to the fantastic three mixtape run where Chance the rapper changed the game. It is no wonder this is the first mixtape to win a grammy. Bursting at its seems wifh positivity, this project has a very apparent influence from Ye sonically, you can definately tell Chance was around alot for the Life of Pablo sessions and it paid off heavily. If only their Good Ass Job project got off the ground. While this doesn't reach the highs of Acid Rap, not many things do and this is such a ... read more

Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap
95

There is a perfectly valid argument that this is the greatest mixtape that the genre has ever seen, and to be honest it is extremely hard to disagree. The track list is almost perfect in my opinion, with every track being anywhere from great to perfect. Songs like 'Paranoia' for example are some of the most heartfelt, dense and incredible rap songs of all time. The themes discussed in this mixtape feel refreshing and unique, perfectly capturing a youthful outlook on the world through ... read more

Chance the Rapper - 10 Day
80

This mixtape starts what I think is a beautiful trilogy of mixtapes that put Chance the rapper on the map. Filled to the brim with positivity, this tape encapsulates the youthful spirit and having hige ambitions, its no wonder he became so beloved amongst other teens. Him being 19 when dropping this is crazy. Nostlagia is my fav track and is one of Chances best songs, perfectly showcasing the feeling of no longer being a child and missing them days in a bittersweet kind of way. This is by no ... read more

4batz - u made me a st4r
52

I hate the track names. 4batz is an artist who actually has alot of potential in my eyes, he showcases a decent bit of talent. 'On God (She Like)' is actually a really enjoyable song and the highlight of the mixtape for me. 'I hate to be alone' feels like a Blond era Frank Ocean song I love it. Every track feels too short, like only one verse was written for it and they were just coasting to hit 2 minutes. Every song ending with a tiktok edit of itself was embaressing and ... read more

King Combs - C3
24

A really fun first track (not surprising given the features) but otherwise is filled with poor beats, horrid flows, mediocre bars and no coherent theme. Mercifully short

King Combs - NEVER STOP
50

One plus side out of the gate, this ep doesn't habe an over reliance on features like King Combs last works. This album also has his best rapping performances (due to him having a clear vision) and has stellar beats. Say what you want about Ye but his production value is truely remarkable (and he gives a not too bad verse which for modern Ye is surprising). KIM is the sincere meaningful track that has been missing from his work up to now. So there is an elephant in the room regarding this ... read more

King Combs - Cyncerely, C3
28

Decent beats and good Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign features cannot save this ep from being unbelievably dull and unoriginal. Every song is way too short (yet feel like they drag on forever) with little to no variety in the subject matters, beats and flows. King Combs really isn't a terrible rapper but he is a rapper that seemingly doesnt want to put much effort into his own project, he is almost always the worst part of every song on this ep. The exception on 'surf' where he ... read more

Yoko Ono - It's Alright (I See Rainbows)
35

The production is..... interesting to say the least. This is such a sharp departure from her previous album just a year before ans given what the subject matter was, probably for the best. The project felt like it needed a few more months to develop its ideas because as is, its a focussless album that feels like it's over way too quickly (a rare case of a Yoko album being too short)

99

Why this album isn't more recognised is a mystery to me. This album is so depressing from beginning to end, made only 6 months after Yoko lost her soulmate, you can feel every tear, heartbreak and sleepless night in every track. Love encapsulated her work with John and now even after his passing, it still does. Her finest album and something I would reccomend everyone listens to at least once (if you can find it)

John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Double Fantasy
95

Love can truely make some beautiful pieces of art. Both Yoko and John deliver constant hit after hit and made what I would consider one of the all time great albums. There really isn't a negative to this project and is near perfect in all aspects. Ending their last album together on 'hard times are over' is so tragic yet a fitting end to one of the most polarizing and brilliant duos in music history. Love or hate them, to me it is undeniable that they are what the culture needed ... read more

Yoko Ono - Feeling The Space
88

Yoko spends like 45 minutes showcasing her feminism and it is awesome. Not a bad song in the bunch and has what could be her catchiest tunes no doubt due to how well the jazz elements are implemented. Moral of the album. GIRL POWER

Yoko Ono - Approximately Infinite Universe
80

Is it bloated? Yes.
Is it Yoko playing it 'safe' at points? Yes.
But is it filled with some of her best songs? Fuck yes
There are some beautiful tracks on this album such as 'I have a woman inside my soul' & 'I want my love to rest tonight' that really resonate with the soul and is what I believe Yoko excels at. Very ahead of its time and is her best solo effort up to this point in her career

85

While the majority of listeners seem to not enjoy this album, I personally think that this album is exactly what I wanted from these 2 artists. Politically charged, catchy and spiritually conscious. This is the most consistent and complete album the duo had made up to this point and felt like the polished pay off from the three experiemntal collab albums before. The tracklist isn't filled with perfect songs but the core tracks (not including the bonus live material) is all at the very ... read more
