Step is my favourite Snoop Dogg song of the last 10 years which may have gotten me hooked too early onto what ultimately is a very forgettable and typical Snoop album. The songs where he tries to embrace more of an r&b vibe are actually quite nice to listen to but are dragged down by a 54 year old heavily wealthy man still talking about crip walking, gang culture and gin & juice. Given the state of his recent releases and the vinyl rips pre release, this album was destined to fail. Years of delays, reworks and ai usage meant that I don't think BULLY as an album ever got the love and care of most of Ye's other solo projects. Despite all of these hurdles however, it did release as a fun if undercooked album that stands as his best in half a decade. With what I would call some of the weakest songs in his catalogue so far (Frank Murphy, sunshine intro) the fact that I can still give this album a 64 shows that even at his weakest, Westside Gunn has a higher standard of quality than most artists
More polished than his last too but more inconsistent, this album deserved to be called a classic upon release and has stood the test of time over 20 years later
Darkar, angrier and a more twisted version of his first album, Eminem delivers career highlights on almost every song, with songs like 'Stan', 'kill you' and 'the way I am' being some of the best songs of the genre. This really defines the era of Marylin Manson, gross out and rebellion.
