Alright, I have given this thing like 5 spins since it came out last night. Overall, it's pretty alright. Yeah, I wasn't really a huge Baby Keem fan before this record dropped and I can't say that it made me into one. However, I do think some of the hate is a bit overblown because sure, I didn't think it was great but the album certainly is not bad by any means. The record is very easy to listen to and is pretty fun throughout its 36 minutes. However, I don't really see ... read more
Did bro really say "Dick in her stomach, I could make her heart cum." Yeah, that line certainly was not a highlight for me. Personally, I don't really get the hype for this guy. Like sure he's better than Nettspend ig but like, is that the fucking bar? If so, this new "underground" scene is so cooked. However, I do find Xavier to be pretty easy to listen to for the most part but, I'm often left wanting more than what he's giving me. Also, another thing ... read more
Bruh I'm so used to having to open my reviews with "So, this was my first time listening to..." but I have actually heard a bit of Converge. Specifically, I listened to Jane Doe once like over a year ago, so by my standards I'm an expert I think. Seriously tho I found this to be a pretty great record from the band, really cool to see how a band can still put out great stuff this late into their career. Converge certainly are not reinventing themselves on this one but keep ... read more
So after releasing her most commercially successful and culturally relevant album, Charli decides to make a 35 minute soundtrack for a movie nobody is gonna watch and nobody will be talking about in a few months, yay. Eh, what am I talking about, I don't know shit about film. So, I went to letterbox to read some reviews and the first one I saw said "Emerald Fennell to film is what Colleen Hoover is to literature" which tells me all I need to know about how the movie ended up ... read more
Bruh. I'm so glad I'm not a Joji fan because imagine waiting for this shit, it's like a spit in the face tbh. Like it's probably better to release nothing than something so lazy. I'm honestly surprised to see this sit at a 61 user score, like does it deserve even that? Idk I feel like people can't tell the difference between when something is mid and when something is just worthlessly lazy, like this album. This guy either doesn't care or just has absolutely ... read more
Is this a bad time to say I have never listened to a J. Cole album? Apparently this album was in the making for like 10 years or something and I gotta say that it certainly sounds like it. The most impressive part of this album imo is the simple fact that it's 101 minutes long and manages to avoid being a slog. Like how is that even possible? The insane runtime is part of why I have taken a while to actually sit down and listen to this thing but it is actually paced really well and ... read more
Don Toliver is an artist that I don't entirely get tbh. Sure, he has some pretty good songs in his discography but other than that, what is he? His music feels like a placeholder, there to fill in the gaps of a playlist in between more interesting artists. What makes it weirder is that he does have a pretty distinct voice, like I'd never mistake him for anyone else but somehow me manages to still sound so generic and blend into the crowd. With that said this album isn't really ... read more
Fuuuu... I gotta say, this blew my expectations out of the water. Personally, I haven't really gotten around to listening to Injury Reserve but, I was looking into some of the singles for this when they came out, I remember listening to Zig Zag last year and back then I guess it was not clicking with me because it wasn't really a track I went back to or gave me a bunch of excitement. However, now listening to this full project i'm just kinda blown away. Pretty much all the songs ... read more
Yeah, it's just kind of a b-sides record of the last record. Now, the last record was pretty good so getting some similar tracks to that is not a necessarily bad thing. However, it would have been nice to see the sound of Negative Spaces expanded on here instead of essentially just being a light version of that album. But if you were really into the alternative metal sound that was offered on Negative Spaces I doubt you'd be disappointed with this one.
Again, I don't really know ... read more
Damn. I have no idea who this is. However, this album was surprisingly great. Sure, I saw it got a good score from fantano but I just looked at the cover and the fact I had no idea who this guy was and assumed it was some boring Avant-garde shit. But nah, this shit slaps so fucking hard from start to finish. I'm actually kinda shocked this ain't getting even more love than it's already getting because it's super accessible, like any hip hop fan can get into this imo. Also, ... read more
You know I have made it a point to not call things corny or cringe as of late because I feel that these terms ultimately shun people from standing out or being different, ultimately making life kinda dull. That's why this album feels like a personal test sent from God because this is the corniest most cringe shit I have heard in a minute bro. Like broooo... Dave Mustaine's edgy ass singing in this album makes him sound like he should be the villain in a Tenacious D musical. We are ... read more
Madison Beer. Wait, why is she famous again? Now, I'm not trying to be negative off the bat but, I feel for an artist her size she's kinda lacking a signature sound, no? Like when you think of a Madison Beer type song, what would you even think of? Anyways, that's my main issue with this thing. However, since she doesn't really have a single sound Madison kinda goes through a nice variety of songs on this tight 11 track record. Overall it was kinda hit or miss, with stand ... read more
Apparently people waited 8 years for this? Yeah, i guess if you have been waiting that long you'd probably want a little more. However, as someone who is mostly unfamiliar with Rocky I found this album to be really good. Personally, since I didn't know much about Rocky I didn't know what to expect and as I went through the album I never gained any sense of clarity on what to expect. Like seriously this thing takes a lot of twists and turns doesn't it? Honestly, I can't ... read more
Huh. What am I even supposed to say about this album? It feels like trying to critique a blank white room devoid of amenities. I will say the most intriguing thing about this album is the amount of positive reviews it has from critics. It's currently at the time of me writing this sitting at 27 reviews with an average score of 81, that's pretty impressive for a small band I have never heard of before. So after listening I'm just sat wondering how the critics could get it so ... read more
Some people accuse Zach Bryan of having all his songs sound the same and those people are kind of right. However, while I do feel that this album sounds a lot like his previous work and doesn't show much improvement musically, I still feel that overall this is a good batch of songs. I also gotta say that for its monster 1hr 18m runtime this thing goes by at a pretty good pace due to the songs being perfectly concise and never overstaying their welcome.
Some of my favorite tracks were ... read more
BRAIN ROT REVIEW:
A pretty good satirization of bands like Fun and the Lumineers. I will say that the song is a little repetitive and I feel like it only has the one joke, when you could make so many more about this brand of millenialcore. However, I did really like the overdramatic singing and delivery throughout the song. Also, that bridge was delightfully terrible. Overall, a good parody/ meme song that I would say is in the "Actually Funny" category.
BRAIN ROT REVIEW:
Ok, this sucks. Bros bio on Spotify says that he's a mix of 2000's slim shady attitude with skullfucking metal. I really don't get why anyone would care about this, it's just a worse, less funny version of Radio Song by Hardy. Both songs have the same narrative of "I won't conform, I'm gonna rock out!" However, Hardy's version is a little more shocking and simply more fun to listen to. This on the other hand is completely ... read more
BRAIN ROT REVIEW:
This is the musical equivalent of eating cardboard. This shit is so damn bland, it's like a Yung Gravy song without the corny ass bars and bad sampling that make a Yung Gravy song at least somewhat memorable. Also, this song really does get annoying after you have heard it 2-3 times, like on first listen I was like "not bad" but, by the 5th time I heard it I couldn't stand it, definitely a future torture technique song. I also wonder how much of this song ... read more
Well an impressive debut is followed by an extremely impressive sophomore album. I really can't think of any criticisms I have for this album at all. The only thing I was somewhat worried about with this album was that it might the tracks might feel a little too similar and kinda melt together. However, while this album does have a consistent sound throughout the project, every song really does feel like its own world and a different kind of dream. Every song here has some really memorabl ... read more
Ok after numerous listens of this steaming pile of dog crap I have come to the conclusion that it’s not very good music. However, as a piece of entertainment I can’t help but enjoy this album. This album is extremely funny and entertaining mostly because it is very dense with ideas. Are the ideas good? NO! But, they are ideas that are presented in an interesting way and I can’t help but want to hear them. I’ll put it like this, If someone told me I never have to hear a ... read more
