My favorite of the singles that have been released in 2024. Track is very enjoyable and has a lot of the qualities that I liked about BNW. While others have criticized the rap bridge, I don't really have a problem with it, and actually find it as a more interesting take on what Starset had done for the bridges on the last two songs. The breakdown is possibly the absolute best from them, every element comes together very well for a gut punch before bringing it back down for the final chorus.
Least favorite of the new singles, still a pretty good song though. This song doesn't really hit quite as hard as BNW, and the mixing seems uneven compared to Starset's other works.
Serves a solid introduction to the new Starset. This song, and the following singles, take them in a more metalcore direction. While this is not going to be for everyone, and may even alienate fans, it is a strong new direction that may lead to their best album to date.
My favorite from Sleep token, all of the pieces fit together very well for an album that can be listened to for pretty much anyone. The genre blends feel more natural then TMBTE, though, I feel like some of the songs may have benefited from a heavier vocal delivery like what is seen in some of TMBTE's offerings.
Great album, liked it a lot more than I originally did. Some of the genre fusions can come of as clunky, and the mixing doesn't seem to be quite as polished as Tomb. However, this album is overall going to be a step in the right direction for the band as evident by their seemingly overnight rise to popularity on release.
A solid comeback, and a great introduction for Emily and Colin. I'm excited to see what comes next from this new line-up.
Still a pretty good album, but outside of the opening and closing tracks, not too much to write home about. It's still relatively fun and does the job.
Very fun album, very fitting for the movie. Overall enjoyable with no major downsides.
This is another album I needed to revisit to truly understand. Upon revisiting, I am settling on an 8/10 score. This is a beautifully angry and heartfelt album based on the very real and traumatic life of vocalist Phil Bozeman. If you have not listened yet, this is an absolute must-listen. This album has the distinction of being the first Whitechapel album to "widely" use clean vocals, to which they are used to a stunning effect on some songs, though they can feel kind of tacky on ... read more
Solid album that I was not expecting to enjoy. Every song is well-produced and well-written. While personally not something I would listen to regularly, it is very enjoyable. I can see this being a top-ten album for the year.
I was excited to go into this album, being a fan of My Chemical Romance. As a fan of Gerard's previous work, this was probably the absolute biggest disappointment I could've ever expected. The whole album just sounds like pure noise, but it is not done in any way that can be considered interesting. Lyrics can be nonsensical at times, along with some of the most stock-sounding instrumentals.
A step up from X, overall still not good. Fighting My Demons is the best song, still not doing much for me though.
This album, while having a nice sound, comes off as creepy and disingenuous. There seems to be a real issue in regards to the almost fetishization of child-like wonders and activities, which severely detracts from the album. Strawberry Shortcake, however, stands out as an important song about growing up. Overall, it's a 2/10 album. If more of the album focused on the messages presented in Strawberry Shortcake, it could've been significantly better.
This album is definitively one of the absolute best ever recorded and released. Recently, relistening to this album as an adult has put everything into perspective for me, even at times bringing me to the point of tears. The lyrical content is deep and resonant, with amazing jazz-inspired instrumentals. As an album, everything works perfectly; there is not a thing that I would change about the listening experience.
