Ken Carson lacks the creativity that made Yeat redefine the English language or Sofaygo’s niche for back pocket melodies. Instead, he cruises throughout the 48-minute runtime on autopilot, eventually running out of things to say and seemingly hoping no one will notice.
This repetitive production taken in tandem with Car$on's often listless and uninspired lyricism (and flows that sometimes struggle to even stay on beat) makes X a largely hollow and forgettable affair.
This album starts off pretty strong with 4 pretty good songs, and after that progressively gets older and older until there's no reason to keep listening. Almost every track in the second half is pretty generic and nothing we haven't heard before. The only saving grace of the second half is the beats, which are consistently spacey and fun.
