This really is a beautiful song. I purposely let this song sink in and with multiple settings, and while Now And Then is nowhere near as good as some of The Beatles' best songs, it works excellently as a capstone for the band's career.
Hearing John Lennon's voice again was very jarring at first, especially considering how lofi the original demo is. But now, I kind of see the lofi-ness as the past meeting the present, especially with Paul's current vocals within the mix.

I usually don't review singles, but I had to talk about this incredible song before the year is over. I've never been someone who's gotten into Hip-Hop, but my god, The Heart Part 5 may be the song that changes that for me. Kendrick makes this track one giant thank you to everyone who has influenced him in his life, and it's one of the most poetic songs I've heard this year. He explains his upbringing and culture, the disconnection he feels between himself ... read more
Goddamn, I fucking love music.
I'm going to start this review with a bit of a story. This week I began my first week at a college I just transferred to. It's been a very exciting yet scary week for me, but I'm enjoying it so far. I live within walking distance of this school, so I've been walking to and from there every day. And so far, this album has been the soundtrack for my college experience. I've been listening to Imaginal Disk nonstop since it released last ... read more
After seeing Coldplay live on their tour for this album, I decided to go back and listen again to see if my opinions have changed about it. This album's still ass.
Coldplay hold a very special place in my heart, as they were the first band I ever got into, and were one of the contributing factors that got me into pursuing music in general. However, this was the first album of theirs that I was dreading leading up to release. I wasn't the biggest fan of Higher Power, the emoji song ... read more
Perfectly orchestrated chaos.
edit: (9.5 -> 9) Still a wicked album, but not as strong as I remember it being.
In lieu of Hellfire coming out this Friday (still trying my best to avoid the leak), I decided to review black midi's sophomore album and my favorite album of 2021, Cavalcade. The band changed their sound on this release, going for a more jazz and avant-prog influenced sound, but it more than worked out in their favor.
John L is one of the craziest opening tracks I've ... read more
The Hellfire truly is upon us.
edit: Ok, fine. it's their best album.
With only 3 records under their belt, black midi have already become one of my favorite bands of all time. Cavalcade was my introduction to them and became my favorite album of 2021, and I soon fell in love with Schlagenheim as well. So after hearing that a follow-up was scheduled for this year, I was highly anticipating it. And thankfully, Hellfire is another fantastic album. Not only did black midi pull out their ... read more
Folk and Billie Eilish mix together a lot better than I thought they would.
This is a really nice release from Billie Eilish. Both songs are acoustic based, and both are beautiful in their own right.
TV is about losing connections with friends while in a relationship, supplementing this emptiness by watching TV. And while they are falling into boredom doing this, they realize that they are the only reason that they are feeling this loneliness. The track also builds a beautiful atmosphere with ... read more
I have never enjoyed having my ears bleed more than on this album.
I'm reviewing this album again because I'm not proud of my original review, and I definitely plan on revising some of my other old reviews as well. On Schlagenheim, black midi blended together various different genres, used a massive amount of improvisation, and in general used a ton of experimentation to create an incredibly ambitious debut. Only a year before this black midi had released their first single, and ... read more
"Mid-Life Crisis" the album.
edit: (8.5 -> 8) Still a great comeback album, but when looking at this compared to how I'd score Death Cab's other albums, it's not as strong as I'd once thought.
Death Cab for Cutie are one of my personal favorite bands, and 2003's Transatlanticism is one of, if not my favorite album of all time. However, since 2008's Narrow Stairs, Death Cab's trajectory has been on a bit of a downturn for me personally. Codes and ... read more
Shoegaze and Dream Pop at its absolute finest.
Blue Rev is my introduction to Alvvays' music, and let me tell you, I'm hooked. This album has been in constant rotation since its release, and the only reason I waited to review it was because it kept growing on me with every listen. The dreamy, yet dense atmospheres provided on each track are beautiful, and in a way a little bit nostalgic.
Pharmacist kicks off the album with a bang, and while I'm not the biggest fan of how the ... read more

I should probably start off by saying that I'm pretty mixed on Taylor Swift's discography as a whole up to this point. I don't care for her first few records, I enjoy Red and 1989 quite a bit, and I didn’t care for her next two records either. However, Folklore impressed me quite a bit when it released, and then Evermore impressed me even more. So with Swift's past two records being quite great in my eyes, I had high hopes for this record. But ... read more
The birth of a King... and a Wizard.
Now 11 years removed from their debut, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have become one of the most prolific artists of our generation. They've explored plenty of different sounds over 23 different albums, while still keeping a good level of quality and consistency throughout. So as we enter the new year, I've decided to look at every single project that the band has released, and see how they rank. The first of these is obviously their debut, ... read more

alt-J's debut made (awesome) waves when it first released in 2012, and although the band's follow up albums haven't reached the highs that An Awesome Wave reached, I still look back fondly at this album, and still hold it with pretty high regards. The band took Art Pop and Folktronica in directions that weren’t ever-present at the time, with a unique sound that consists of sprawling instrumental atmospheres, and Joe Newman's bizarre vocals.

I think it's safe to say that this band is still in good hands.
After the departure of frontman Isaac Wood, the rest of Black Country, New Road were left with a big space to fill. So the band immediately began working on new material, and throughout the second half of 2022, they toured with a setlist of completely new songs, as well as a few songs that were originally for Tyler Hyde's solo project. So now, a little over a year since Ants From Up There, we have Live at Bush Hall, a ... read more
Well, I'd say that I'm pretty damn impressed.
I was randomly scrolling through the highest rated albums from this year, and when I saw this EP with the genres of "Post-Punk" and "Jazz-Rock," I knew I had to check it out. And damn, this thing is great. Maruja's debut EP Knocknarea is nothing short of incredible. The band's atmospheric tones and Joe Carroll's saxophone abilities are both incredible, and give them a unique sound to distinguish them ... read more
Ok, now things are really starting to get interesting.
Although there were some levels of greatness within King Gizzard's previous albums, I'm In Your Mind Fuzz was where the band truly started to shine. The music on this album takes a much more adventurous style, and is incredibly consistent throughout.
This is immediately shown off within the first four tracks, which make up the Mind Fuzz Suite. I'm In Your Mind is an incredible opener that immediately transports you into the ... read more
3 quarters out of 4.
After striking out with their best album yet in I'm In Your Mind Fuzz, King Gizzard returned with a concept album, Quarters! The main gimmick of this album is that there are only four songs, each clocking in at 10 minutes and 10 seconds, making the album 40 minutes and 40 seconds long. This is a pretty clever gimmick, and they do pretty well with it. The River comes first, and it's easily the most popular. It's a pretty jazzy piece in 5/4, and it's ... read more
(Edit: I originally gave this a 7.5 lol)
This music is much deeper than the cover entails.
Squid have returned with their sophomore effort, and while I do enjoy this album quite a bit, it still left me wanting a little bit more (it's since grown on me quite a bit). Just like their Windmill Trio contemporaries (BC,NR, black midi), Squid have strayed a bit away from their Post-Punk roots, and move into a more Art Rock and experimental direction. Most of O Monolith is pretty great, with ... read more
This is some good cowboy shit.
Geese are a band that I only recently came across. When a certain melon-head brought these guys up in one of his videos, I decided to check out their work. And man, I was certainly impressed. 3D Country has the band take the Art Punk sounds of their debut, and tweak them in a Country-oriented style.
Highlights from the album include the title track, with its adventurous sound and fantastic vocals, Cowboy Nudes with a plucky chorus and a perfect final section, ... read more
This album is the warmest of hugs in the coldest of winter.
After the Magic is my first Parannoul album, and my god, this is extremely impressive, magical even. The Shoegaze and Dream Pop sounds that Parannoul brings to the table are unparalleled, and create a perfect winter scenery just like the album's cover. Each of the tracks all have a very distinct feel, keeping the album varied throughout.
Highlights for me include opener Polaris, especially with its shift from an acoustic intro ... read more
