This is another one of the albums that got me into slam and brutal death metal as a whole.
It’s an insanely fun album and one of the most iconic.

This is a very chill jazz lo-fi album. It’s great for passive listening while doing something else. Can be pretty boring and uninteresting when just listening to it.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why they didn’t do anything with “The Worth”; it’s not on any of releases, just on this demo and, for me, it’s the stand out track. It’s the track I could see people shouting to, at Outbreak or something.
This is also my first exposure to Have Heart and I have high hopes for their other releases that I expect will be met.
Great demo all round.

How do I even start this?
This record is batshit crazy. It has mental time signature changes, tempo changes, everything changes. There is no more than 10 seconds that stays the same in this record.
I absolutely love this record. From the aesthetic to the samples (big up Captain Spaulding) to the drum breaks. There’s a little bit for everyone in this record.
This came out in 2003. This is way ahead of its time, this was 1 year after djent was invented by Meshuggah.
I wish these were ... read more
A short and sweet EP about dinosaurs from Goregrind duo “Palaeontologist”. I found out about this from Slaughtercult’s drummer Matt, who is the drummer of this project also, and when I saw the cheap ass price on Bandcamp, I had to buy it.
I’m a sucker for anything dinosaur related and when metal goes dinosaur related and actually does it well. Hell yeah.

I’m giving 100s out like it’s Christmas but genuinely this EP is one of the best ever, in my opinion, it’s the best emo record out there; if not, it’s the best underground one.
Taylor Hayne’s vocals on this track are insane, the guy sings his heart out.
The songwriting all round is phenomenal and it’s a really unique sound with this band, I personally, haven’t ever heard anything like this.
Also, Taylor used to have a great moustache, idk if he has ... read more
I saw Kanonenfieber, with Batushka (the real Batushka), on their first UK run of shows, just before this EP came out.
At the time, they were the best band I had seen. The choreography, the outfits, the everything. Everything about it was cinematic and theatrical. I even got a setlist at that show, it was amazing.
One key memory I have, is of the fact that they can’t speak English; so the only words they’d say was “Manchester!”. Love this band/project. Great ... read more
Gah dayum.
Der Fusilier tells the story of a German soldier who fails to liberate a polish town and has to dredge back through an icy hell to get home, and the EP does a great job at making you feel that; the sorrow, the despair and the pain in every single aspect of the instrumentation and vocals. Everything about this record feels cold.
The chorus of both songs are insanely catchy, I find myself thinking about this EP far too often.
I’ve also been listening to this record since it ... read more
It’s another record that’s over as fast as it began, but hell, I ain’t complaining; it hits like a bullet train.
Blast beats galore, some of the best grooves in all of hardcore-adjacent music and some very angry vocals.
“Immaculate Rapture” is a big stand out for me; the fact a short 30 second song can contain so much anger is mental, not to mention the grooves and the blast beats have me drooling.
I also hear the feedback in my sleep.

This is the best split ever. Both bands are phenomenal in it and I wouldn’t change a thing.
World Peace are doing their usual sludgy powerviolence (bass only btw). And the last track on their side: “Pristine, Redeeming”, has that esoteric chant in it. The type of chant that gives goosebumps.
Cell Rot’s side is a lot different to WP’s in the sense that it’s very punky. Lots of Side 2 Side energy comes from it. The riff in “TAKE HOLD” is a complete ... read more
It’s over as soon as it begins. I love when this band gets all chanty, it’s goosebumps all over. And the grooviness of tracks like “Let There Be Light” and “Becoming! Becoming!” just really hits differently. The album’s length keeps it refreshing and easy listening, I find myself constantly coming back to this one.

Two very different styles of powerviolence in one record. World Peace are sludgy, esoteric bass-only pv and Blame God are your traditional Assück-type pv, and they work great together honestly.
World Peace know how to put an EP together a this proves it. I cannot wait to see them in April.
Bandcamp price: $5 USD (Twelve Gauge Records)
I think this is the best MySpace era metalcore record. It’s brutal, technical and has pig squeals. But the little praise song at the end ruins it for me. I’ve never much liked Christian music but I can deal with it if it’s in a normal song, whereas this calm ass piano rendition is blatant praise and it’s just not for me.

Incel: The Album
I personally looked at their name and thought it would be typical Deathgrind about disliking Christianity and religion as a whole, but no. It’s about hating women instead.
The instrumentation is meh at best, the vocals is where it shines really.
Bandcamp price: €7 EUR (Morbid Generation Records)
Some good old NYHC. Honestly, this album does get a bit old after a bit but it’s good fun. It’s also lovely how Bandcamp loves shoving this album down my throat for no reason, so it’d be a higher rating if it was a first-time listen. Like I said, I personally get flavour fatigue after the 7th track and I won’t lie “Police” is an ear sore to listen to, the panning back and forth vocals are painful to be honest.
Bandcamp price: $9.99 USD (A389 Recordings)
I personally consider this release to be a single, and so I’ll treat it as such.
The Unabomber is my favourite Macabre song. The start parodies “Children Of The Grave” and Jesus Christ, it’s just so groovy.
I got to see them live in August 25 and it was the highlight of my life. I also got to meet Corporate Death after the show and oh my god, he was the goat.
The EP also features a few songs of “Dahmer”, an album that would come out the next year, ... read more
We haven’t seen this type of talent since Vital Remains. This is all one dude. In the live shows, he plays drums and does vocals at the same time. If that ain’t talent, I don’t know what is.
Besides all that, this album is hella repetitive. It honestly gets boring after the 4th song, and in my opinion, the two demos that are on this album are better than most of the album.
There’s also a lack of blast beats on this album. I want more.
Bandcamp price: $4 USD
I cannot wait to see these later this month.
They're from Birmingham so you can see where they get their hatred and anger from; I know I would be angry 24/7 if I was.
This album is a debut yet it feels like it’s a band from the 90s who had been playing thrash since their teen years. I cannot wait to see how they evolve their sound in the upcoming years.
The intro quite literally grips you by the balls and that grip will not let up until the album is over. That is the best ... read more
Wit’s End are a hardcore band from Sheffield, so they’re involved in the Northern HC scene. Yet, I’ve never seen them on a show. As of February 2026, there are no posts on their instagram. I, personally, feel like you can’t be a HC band and not play shows; it’s like being a dog and not barking.
On a brighter note, “Split The Difference” and “Big Time” are two really catchy songs that I find stuck in my head quite often. Especially that Bass ... read more
By no means is this as good as Realities but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t as fun. Holy shit, that Blitz cover is something else. It’s crazy to me that an obscure band from California, covered another obscure band from the 70s Derby punk scene. That song is so fun. Honestly, the song “Violence”, kind of drags it down for me, I’m not too big on songs that are basically just Tom grooves the entire time. But do give it all a listen.
