Pilau - Pressure

Once again another great powerviolence band. But oddly enough there are some tracks on this record which feel very shoegaze-y to me. Decay, the opening track, is a phenomenal song. It’s very hard for Hardcore bands to stand out usually, but Pilau does it amazingly on this record. Highly recommend.

Xui - Realities

XUI are my favourite powerviolence band. I got to see them with cell rot in 2025, it was the show that got me into powerviolence as a whole. I was listening to WORLD PEACE at the time, but they were the only pv band I was listening to. Seeing XUI and talking to Danny, the vocalist, after the show, really made me want to listen to more and, hell, even start a pv band. Great record. I got it on 7” for £10.

What a band. Dan & Tim have somehow crafted a perfect album from start to finish. Everyone needs to hear this album at least once in their life. It’s a crime if they don’t.

Nothing - When No Birds Sang

Holy peak.
This album somehow makes Shoegaze, Powerviolence and Ambient work back to back to back, and then merges them into a final track. Not to mention the album cover and name are amazing. Some songs do drag on a bit but it genuinely is great.
Would recommend.

This band was the reason I got into this genre as a whole. Being from Manchester, they play here at least thrice a year and it’s piss easy to go to a gig for a tenner to see em. They are also the nicest two people in the scene, especially Jake Gamble, the drummer. I feel like if he was a prick to me in October 23, I wouldn’t have gotten into this music as much. But luckily, the guy was nothing but a saint. Definitely not their best album but it’s a great debut.
