This album is all over the place and I’m all for it. It’s the first time Ritchie has used blast beats in a Macabre song (I think). And there is definitely a breakdown in “Dracula”.
This album mainly focuses on killers/murderers from history and fairy tales. It’s definitely an interesting turn in topics, but I welcome it with open arms as long as it slaps, and this album does, in fact, slap.
Bandcamp price: $11 USD
A very, very solid album. It’s definitely Macabre’s best in terms of lyricism and sound.
“The Iceman” and “The Hillside Stranglers are two standouts for me.
It’s a more evolved version of “Sinister Slaughter”, in my opinion and it stands out amongst Macabre’s discography.

Yeesh, 6 hours.
This is a concept album about a person’s descent into dementia, with each stage getting more distorted and harder to listen to.
“R1”, the last track, is my favourite. In the last 6 minutes of that song, instead of the ambient and harsh noise, there’s a recording of a church choir, seemingly suggesting either an ascent to heaven or a hallucination of the same thing. Then in the last minute of the track, it’s just silence. Which can only mean one ... read more
A concept album about Jeffrey Dahmer’s life and it’s a hell of an album. There’s a reason it’s Macabre’s most popular album.
It starts off with two heavyweights, “Dog Guts” and “Hitchhiker”, the latter of the two being Macabre’s most popular song and the only song I have cried to when I heard it live.
Lots of the songs are filler, little tongue-in-cheek satirical songs, like “McDahmers” and “Jeffrey Dahmer and The ... read more
Definitely their weakest release by far.
“McMassacre” and “Holiday Of Horror” are the two stand outs to me. McMassacre is Macabre’s most morbidly comedic song in my opinion, and Holiday Of Horror is my go-to Xmas song.
All the other songs are just meh in my opinion.
Bandcamp price: $11 USD
None stop peak. Back to back to back.
This is macabres best album in terms of songwriting. Not in terms of mix/quality at all, which is a bit iffy at times. From Night Stalker to Zodiac to Vampire of Düsseldorf to what’s that smell, it’s just constant, incessant intensity that you can only get from Macabre and no one else.

A very revolutionary album for Deathcore (and some areas of slam).
While pig squeals were already decently popular, I think this is the record that put them on the map.
Luke Griffin is at his best here and if only he would stop doing his trap “metal” slop and come back to Deathcore.
Was a very important album in my baby-metalhead stages and introduced me to all sorts of genres beyond Deathcore and death metal.

The happiest album ever. This album could pull Nietzsche out of Nihilism and turn him into an Alan Watts type philosopher.
Life is beautiful. Live it.
Bandcamp price: €9.99 EUR
The version on all streaming platforms are missing two tracks: “Disease” and “Natural Disaster”. This was my first time listening to them.
Bear in mind this record was released in 1987. It was way ahead of its time. Also, Dennis Ritchie already solidified himself as one of the most influential drummers in metal with this EP.
Listen to the original 80s one. I think Neil Kernon’s version is too polished and it extends “Mass Murder” by about 4 ... read more
Very resonant of Found Dead Hanging to me. Mathcore + Powerviolence will always be an elite combination of genres to me.
I love how you can hear the Glaswegian accent in a few of the songs.
Intense record that gives you no breaks at all.
Bandcamp price: £0 GBP
Comedy metal at its finest. An insanely fun record and is almost flawless.
“Altars Of Sadness” and “None Of This Will Matter In The End” are songs that are actually pretty emotional feeling, they are a massive contrast for to the other comedic songs.
There are also some Shaun Of The Dead samples on “Robert Zombie”.
Great record.

A very bleak sounding album that also somehow feels warm and nostalgic.
The predecessor to EATEOT tells gives us a very good idea of what The Caretaker’s ultimate piece of work is like. Just 5 hours shorter and a lot more easy listening.
Bandcamp price: £5 GBP
A good little compilation of scrapped songs.
A nice way to end The Caretaker.

God damn i wish this band was still together.
This ep introduced me to beatdown as a whole.
Used to have their hoodie but my ex stole it. Fuck you.

Ah shit, here we go again.
I personally think this is VoD’s best album so far. I cannot wait to hear what they come out with next.
Great samples, great features.

Ye olde slamming brutal death metal, from the good old city of Manchester.
Love slam, hate glam. Nuff said.

Shoegaze at its peak.
I love Oklahoman music, why are they so good at making music?
These and king pink are the greatest dynamic duo since Ronaldo and Bale.
Listen to this record, it’s life changing.

This was probably the second exposure I had to sabaton as a young kid. Sabaton were what got me into history as a whole. And now I’m the biggest world war buff ever.
Great storytelling. Great music.
Bandcamp price: $8.25 USD
So I listened to the 2021 redux, which I would not recommend. The mix is sloppy and very very uneven. Listen to the original 2016 instead; it’s levels above.

I absolutely love this record.
It’s so melancholic but it keeps the groove and anger going throughout the whole thing, even in some of the ambient tracks you can feel the raw emotion poured into them.
The jazz intros of some of the songs are the key part of this album, it makes it so unique and interesting to listen to.
10/10 would cry again.
