Not my most favorite thing ever but the idea is funny even if it wasn't executed very greatly. The albums OK but an improvement to his other "new work" so I guess this should be good for him.
It's very experimental. VERY very experimental and definitely ahead of its time in 2003. However it's also very experimental at the cost of making it a listenable album.
I wouldn't say it is the hardest album to sit through, especially considering that the sound is new, interesting, special and unique to say the least. And even though the sound does change from time to time I wouldn't always consider them as fundamental changes that instantly stand out in that album.

Melody A.M. sounds special, cold and very experimental of course.
The songs are consistently filled with interesting combinations and many instruments that sound like they all play on their own yet accidentally line up and harmonize together. All of it feels like a fitting coincidence.

The opener "wake up" was way too chaotic sadly and just doesn't work well as an opener (and is very forgettable by itself too..)
Nice to meet you might have some annoying qualities with the pitched up voice singing those "doos" but otherwise it's a soft and chill song so I can't say too many bad things about it. This would've worked better as an opener for Loom too.

I do get the appeal but for me personally it's a bit *too* chaotic and doesn't deliver much variety across the songs instrumentally. It is undeniably a unique sound and one you have to appreciate once you hear it, but aside from a few songs that are in my opinion masterfully produced and sound oddly impactful the rest of the songs don't shine too much or barely get the chance to develop a distinct personality for themselves.
