Every time I feel my opinion is a contrarian one, I feel a bit more obligated to write a review (I know sharing my opinion is never necessary). Cherry Bomb is one of the few albums I love, and a lot of other people dislike strongly.
Obviously I like this album a lot. It tries a lot of different things which is why a lot of people don't like it, but it is the reason for why I like it. I think that is what goes for a lot of my reasons for liking this album is the same as of why a lot of ... read more
Worth listening to, especially compared to a lot of the other songs in the SZNZ series
At times I wonder; should I have listened to this album when it came out, or is it good I started listening to it this November, and after a long time of reflecting and hopefully maturing. I will never know. What I do know is that this album hits me that rarely albums do.
I'm a person who cares a lot about text in music, almost more than the instrumentals themselves, but man are the sound of this album beautiful. When I first heard the line "I will come through like a child" in ... read more
This album has a lot of sentimental value to me. I started to listen to it a time I personally felt incarcerated. The more time went, the more i started to relate to this album. The first song is a sweet interlude. Then we go over to the second track which contains so much well spoken bitterness that I've even said it myself in real life. I also really like the guitar on this. Break the Ice is song which has gone on loop for me at times. Rocky Horror is such a good Emo rock song that I feel ... read more
A part of me wish I had heard of this album a lot earlier, but I'm unsure. I don't know if i would be able to appreciate the lyrics well enough. I would maybe even think the songs are a bit too long. This album gets easily personal to me, due to the themes of love throughout, and the complications that come with it. I think the only song I'm not a big fan of is "Beach Life-In-Death" mostly because of the intro. I haven't fully listened to the 2011 version, but of the changes I've seen ... read more
NOTE: I wrote this some time ago (01/07/2022) in my main language. My opinions on some things have changed.
My name is Jonas - is a pretty classic opening to an album I wouldn't say it's the best (I'd probably say the best is Everything In Its Right Place) but it does the job and it's a good intro for what's to come.
No One Else - is pretty cool and funny, surprisingly I've heard quite a few people I know who have misunderstood this song but take it with a pinch of salt because they're not very ... read more
NOTE: This review was written a long time ago in my main language (09/09/2022). My opinions on some things may have changed. I also originally wrote this review for my friends.
Pinkerton review time (I am only gonna talk about the meaning behind the songs if I'm going to use it to emphasize a point):
Tired Of Sex: In my opinion this is the best Weezer album intro. I love the kick on it and how Rivers screams. It puts you in the mood for what's to come.
Getchoo: I have not listened to this one ... read more
This album does an amazing job on how it handles childhood, death, and growing up. I don't know why, but the strings on the first track reminds me of Airbag (from OKC) for some reason. I think my favourite track on here is Crown of Love, due to its somberness and the reveal at the end. The only place where the album takes me out a bit is on Wake Up, because of the big tone shift. This album is what really got me into Chamber Pop, and I'm happy that it did.
I used to be a huge Oliver Tree fan, he was my favourite artist since I discovered him in 2018. His music was a nice stepping stone for me to discover new music in a time I had just become an angsty teen. I was quite excited when he talked about becoming a film maker, but was disappointed when he came out with this album instead.
I don't know how of a good thing this was, but when listening to this album, I listened to the one which came before it right afterwards to compare the two even though ... read more
Weezer Maladroit is an album which sadly ended up as a middle child, and was forgotten by most till fans realised how could it was. The tracks on this album, which I like, I really like. Those are America, Gigolo is an amazing intro for an album, Death and Destruction with a nice sad guitar riff, Slob which almost brings back the same bitter sadness Rivers have in Pinkerton, Burndt Jamb which is nice and short. Keep Fishin' is alright but Dope Nose and Space Rock may be one of my least ... read more
