With the arrival of Winter, this double-album – which is how it will no doubt be categorised in the future – stands proudly as a whole, thoroughly complete work. It’s unified, enterprising, and truly progressive for the group.

While all four chapters of "SZNZ" find WEEZER playing it safe in their lane, the quality of the release proves that WEEZER can still churn out music that's as strong as their mid-1990s debut.

Sure, it would have been better if Weezer leaned into these strengths, instead of adding wanky prog breakdowns and unnecessarily fussy rhythmic shifts. But they're a nice reminder that Cuomo hasn't lost his knack for golden melodies.

Cuomo should have just made another Weezer album out of the best material on this EP and its predecessors and called it a day.

Unfortunately, the combination of Christmas kitsch and Weezer kitsch makes for a grating mishmash of tackiness, angst, and blown-out fuzz that ultimately falls flat.

Weezer Deep Dive - why do i do this to myself
Yeah, I’ve been putting it off long enough, it’s time for Weezer. I’ve never been a Weezer fan; though I enjoy a far few of their albums, they’ve never turned me into a die-hard fan like so many others. Alongside that, I reserve a special place in musical hell for a couple of their records that we’ll get to later. That begs the question though: why the hell am I starting with Winter?

From the lively production of, the amazing instrumental breaks, the Christmas sounds trailing everything, and Rivers successfully sounding dramatic for the first time in a while. This was done GREAT.

Yo wtf people hate this one?? I genuinely think this is one of the best things the band has put out, which is insane considering the rest of SZNZ kind of sucks ass. I seriously come back to this all the time it really does feel like some classic Weezer to me. If you think basketball is a bad song then I’m sorry but we can never be friends.

iambic pentameter is really dorky and lame but its really good. i connect with it pretty heavy too tbh
