"Your thoughts are all in orbit..."
An astronomical step forward from their 2012 record The Bear's Revenge, Constellations is fantastic and shows the Moulettes at their creative apex.
While the underlying narrative isn't as precise compared to their previous work, these songs are so diverse and well-written, displaying a wide array of emotions that tie into themes of hope for what's to come. The sound of this project feels lively - there were a few jaw-dropping ... read more
"The sacrifice of hiding in a lie..."
This album feels oddly comforting, in a way that I didn't really expect upon relisten.
Hybrid Theory is a near perfect release of anger that feels so digestible to me in a way that feels very cathartic. Obviously, the subject matter of this project is anything but comforting - Chester Bennington was a person who went through a lot of mental struggles, dealing with sexual abuse at a very young age, as well as suffering through addictions to ... read more
"and the ropes hang to keep us all awake... I should have known"
If you ask me this is a massive downgrade from White Pony. I like this album's very distinct sound - the guitar tone is awesome and very memorable, and the vocals are some of Deftones' best in their entire catalogue. Chino sounds fantastic on pretty much every track - his haunting clean vocals on tracks like Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event and especially Minerva, as well as his harsh vocals which are top ... read more
"So near to me, so far from me now"
One of my favorite Moulettes albums, for sure. Though I don't think it has the strongest sound palette among their works, the storytelling on this project is by far their most consistent and nuanced.
The album revolves around a dancing bear enslaved for a circus, who escapes the circus through the help of the fire dancer Uca. The bear, after escaping the routinely dances ordered on them by a human audience, attempts to regain any essence of ... read more
"You give me a conscience, I'll give you a crisis"
First album I have heard by Architects - it has its dull moments, no doubt, but the album feels so vibrant nonetheless. Apparently this release was written in the perspective of a person suffering from cancer, which is a pretty neat and introspective topic to lead an album with, though other albums like MCR's The Black Parade have done this exact premise a ton better. Not many tracks on this Architects album actually adhere ... read more
