Ween - The Mollusk

perfect album, like nothing beats this
this is peak absolutely nothing fuckin beats the mollusk
silly, pretty, crazy, fun!!

Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
100

the most atmospheric piece of media ive ever witnessed, it knows what its doing very well
the lack of lyricism is only accentuates the feeling of an ethereal society a mix of both heaven and las vegas
one could say that incoherent babbling presents vegas well
i am very much inspired by this album, id like to make an album like this one someday

samlrc - A Lonely Sinner
88

what the fuck where have i been
I saw this album when it came out and I didnt bother listening to it even tho the cover is really cute :3
i listened to it today, this album fuckin rocks, it sounds like nature
throughout the entire listen i was completely visualizing fields of grass, forests, hills, all in a warm climate
its themes of self love and conformity and just trying to live life the best way u can while being different are absolutely nailed through gorgeous lyrics through a charming ... read more

Roger Waters - The Dark Side of the Moon Redux
11

this mfer managed to make one of the coolest and pretty much greatest albums of all time sound like absolute dog water
i dont give a shit about those narrations in EVERY FUCKING SONG IN THE ALBUM
i hate that critics are saying this is deep and profound lyricism or somethng like that, but its definitely fukcing not this pretentious guy is just putting in fancy words to sound interesting
as per usual i aint rating it, but this is because i dont really want this albums presence to be on my page ngl

Sonic Youth - Goo
90

well im deleted the old review cuz it was a fuckin yap session lmaoooo
so this album is surprisingly good!!
ive tried with daydream nation and i always got bored after the first 2 songs (payin atettion to the album ofc), so i didnt expect much from sonic youth
i tried this one and i found myself with a very fun experience ngl!!
this album has so many moods, all coinciding with being a rebel or just different to society
i love harsh songs like dirty boots, mildred pierce and mary-christ cuz they ... read more

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
100

Although I'm not the target demographic, Songs for the Deaf is genuinely an amazing album!!
I adore it's concept of being listened to through different radio stations, as each song has a different theme and feel to it, despite fitting in similar genres.

You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire is a great start for this album, a a song about alcohol changing someone and making them wild, just like the song is wild as well
No One Knows is SO DAMN GOOD. It's just a pure ... read more

Björk - Vespertine
85

Same as the New Order album I reviewed yesterday, I bought Vespertine for my birthday 2 days ago, going in mostly blind (I listened to it years ago, then revisited half of it without looking at the lyrics, and kinda liked it both times)

My god I have been nothing but a fool. This album is absolutely amazing, it's perfect

Hidden Place is probably the best way to start an album like this, with a very sweet story and meaning about finding a place with your lover that's just for the two of ... read more

New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies
NR

I bought a copy of the cd for this album for my birthday yesterday (im 17 now yayyy!!) and it had been an album I had been planning to listen to for a while, since I like Joy Division. And oh my fuck this shit is awesome.

Age of Consent is a pretty great song, and I love its political message about gay UK peeps in the early 80s.
We All Stand feels like a Swans song, which is a win in my book, and the whole distanced interaction between the narrator and the soldier is amazing, so mystical and ... read more

Maruja - Knocknarea
NR

This EP is kinda interesting to me
It doesn't feel like it came out this year, yet it came out early this year?? How haven't I seen this album cover before even though I've been on this website chronically for months
I like this thing a lot though, it's simple Post-Rock, which if you turn on while hanging out I will immediately respect you
The lyrics feel like they're similes of war, used as metaphors, which is pretty genius
This is good and all, but Spotify auto-play took me to Swans' The ... read more

Michael Cera Palin - "I Don't Know How To Explain It"
NR

Well... I don't know how to explain it, but this little EP is extremely good!!
It's pretty much my first delve into this genre of Emo, and Midwest Emo in general.
It generally makes me very emotional, specially If it Makes You Happy, but I get this strange sense of bliss from listening to this type of music, i connect to it a lot.
I honestly love all the complicated melodies this genre has, yet simple melodies for vocals, as it focuses on lyrics more often.
It's a nice little thing to listen to ... read more

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
NR

This is such a beautiful melancholic album. It's so simplistic, as it feels like an album that would be popular to listen to nowadays, yet so complex lyrically. It's a very enjoyable listen and it seems fairly easy to cover. Though I'd say I kinda expected more from this album. It's too simple for me, and perhaps too repetitive as well when each song has pretty much the same structure, and it0s all sung in falsetto
Despite that, it's a mighty fine album

NR

This album is fucking great like absolutely everyone says
Songs are very memorable, and they're great for a workout (that's how I listened to it, and I can approve). There's so many amazing songs in this damn thing. I've Seen Footage, Get Got, Lost Boys, The Fever (Aye Aye), Hacker, and one my personal favourite form this album, Hustle Bones.
It's such a very unique album. Death Grips' sound is fucking amazing and a great mix of genres. Hip Hop bars from MC Ride (which is AMAZINGLY written ... read more

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
NR

Ahhh Unknown Pleasures, my frenemy...
I call it that because I struggled to listen to this album for quite a while now, that while being around 2 years. But today I fully listened to it without getting bored, and it's damn good!
It definitely has an aesthetic to it, the electric drum kit, the singers dark voice, very melancholic smoking alone in your bedroom vibes (though I dont smoke, so idk if that description would be accurate.)
I really enjoyed it, tracks like Disorder, Day of the Lords, ... read more

Sigur Rós - ÁTTA
NR

Y'know as much this is a very beautiful and an amazing comeback after a decade from these boys (who I love with all my heart btw). This album should've been released during the colder time of this year. It's very odd to listen to this at 30 ºC
Anyways this shit is fucking beautiful. Every single album this band puts out is a fucking masterpiece, and I love them all so much. I'll have to see how much Hopelandic there is withing this record when someone puts the lyrics of it on genius, ... read more

The Velvet Underground - Loaded
NR

REDO REVIEW: At first listen I despised this album for its non experimental nature, but on second listen, this album is actually really fucking good!! It's just classic 60's/70's pop rock, with really good lyrics as I would expect from Lou Reed. It also is pretty experimental, in the sense that they're experimenting not doing something experimental as they usually do.

Who loves the Sun is a sweet opener for the album. A cute little melancholic song about breakup, and finding no meaning in most ... read more

The Beatles - The Beatles
NR

First things first: I had a panic attack during Revolution 9. Sheer sensory overload, fully frozen for the entirety of the song, and couldn't fucking stop it so I had to just stay there, suffering. Until Good Night came, saving me from my panic. As much as it made me suffer, it feels like the best song in this entire album. This song will remain within the confines of my fucked up mind for a while if not forever. The entire 8:22 minutes of the song are more memorable than almost anything in ... read more

Simon & Garfunkel - Bookends
NR

Back to Simon and Garfunkel, I haven't forgotten about these boys, they're so good
I'm honestly surprised at how much I've liked this album, so far as to say that this is my new favourite of mine by theirs (a bit higher than PSR&T)
The theme-ing of getting old feels very well executed with this albums songs, it's a cold album in it's theme and lyrics, but the music is pop-y and energetic, sometimes feeling like a Billy Joel album (specially Save The Life of My Child), and then again ... read more

The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
NR

Wow!! This one's pretty fucking good!!
I love having this one on the background, it has such clever and experimental songs like The Gift and Sister Ray (even if I feel that the latter one drags for a little too long, but it is very Swans like in some way).
It also has a song that I find very scary, Lady Godiva's Operation, because of its lead singer, and the other voice that randomly pops in a few minutes in (I jumped when I heard that voice it freaked the fuck out of me).
It definitely feels ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
NR

damn, this was better than I thought
Like it's not better than TPAB or GKMC, but it sure as hell was more fun than the others
I had a real fun time with songs like DNA. YAH. HUMBLE. and surpirsingly XXX. (I say surprisingly because I've lived in Ireland for 9 months and I'm exhausted of even seeing the name U2 anywhere)
There's not much I can say other than this was very good and fun :3
