I remember the first time that I heard Idles' Brutalism in late 2017. This album does so many different things, and does so many of those things well. It goes from ethereal dream pop, to angsty riot grrrl, and then to decadent post-rock. I love a dreamy, atmospheric rock album. Something about the world built by that layers of reverb-soaked guitars, and ethereal vocals lifts my spirits. Sunlight Echoes pulls off precisely this atmosphere that I find so enrapturing, and that's probably why I've been returning to it so much in the two weeks since it dropped.
