deadmau5 - Bridged by a Lightwave

My introduction to deadmau5. And other than Strobe it's my absolute favorite song of his.

Stupendously paced and real dynamic stuff. Must listen if you're an EDM fan!

Nacha Guevara - Heavy Tango

Thank you @Milanesadesojas for recommending this album!

They claim that this is a real fun lost record that could only be listened to on YouTube. They also said it's an interesting mix of tango tracks reinterpreted with metal. That sounds really interesting so let's see how it holds up!

Uno:
Yup, that certainly is an interesting mixture of Tango and Metal. Since my sole language is English, I have zero clue what the woman is singing about. So with that in mind, she kinda gets ignored by me ... read more

Happy Summer vibes!

The EP I want to review today that is just now added to this site by yours truly is "Lap of Luxury".

This is the second labor day that I am going to listen to this EP, thus signifying the official end of summer! It's going to be fucking hot for the next month anyways where I live but let's just call that an Indian summer.

This EP just screams late summer vibes to me and it's always such a joy to listen to! So without further ado, let's finish summer off with a ... read more

It's an ambient album so right off the bat it's going to have to strike a chord to keep me interested. At first I wasn't really feeling it, but then I actually enjoyed "A lesson". It was some good ambience but with me writing this after listening to the whole album, I fail to remember my specific thoughts on this track.

Below are my thoughts recorded from the song "Safe" onwards. You know the ambience is good when images start forming in my mind due to the rich ... read more

The Garden - HORSESHIT ON ROUTE 66

I remember being disappointed with this album cause it was way too much punk and not enough synths to balance things out. I was like these guys have perfected the formula why break it apart?! I have over time grown to like their punk side almost as much as their synthetic touches. So hopefully with this relisten I have a much more positive view.

Haunted House on Zillow:
Real basic start. We got the chunky bass and a giggling ghost backing the vocals. Sounds like a fun Halloween adventure! I ... read more

Now where does our dynamic duo go next once they have reached such crazy heights ( imo) in their last LP? Let's find out...

Clench to stay awake:
Man those lyrics...that sounds like a miserable experience. If anyone sympathizes with this, I hope you get better or are stronger now that you got past that rough time in your life.

I like how it builds up momentum to the point that he's more screaming than singing to show how intense things are when he's experiencing these things.( If he is ... read more

Who's ready for Jestercore? I am! I absolutely love the cover for this album!

Stallion:
Like the Switching from a fast tempo to a moderate pace. Keeps the song engaging, and the punk do be punking!

Make a Wish:
Punk+Synths+ festive mood+ goofy lyrics= Jestercore.
And it looks like these lads have mastered it already. They have found their identity and it's SO GOOD!!!

Shameless Shadow:

Clay:
I like cereal, but I ain't no serial killer!

Their best shit yet! Like OMG how do they just keep on getting better and better?! It has everything I love about this band! ( Well except for the Bass and the punk stuff, but who cares about that when this shit is so good!)

Make Yer Mark:
Man this is so chaotic and fun! I hardly understand what they are even talking about half the time, but when the punk is punking so hard who ... read more

Man I am excited to relisten to this album again. When I first went through their Discography this was the album that they went from ok to amazing! So let's get started shall we?

All Smiles Over Here:) :
I love the eerie atmosphere to introduce the album. Then with a clang we go straight into the action! With the earworm of a chorus and fun verses this album is off to a great start! You can't forget the amazing production that is just entrancing! The Garden is already on another level with ... read more

The Garden - RULES

In this EP The Garden introduce the other side of their identity in the two songs that bookend it. Otherwise it's their standard punk and an update of "Spirit Chant" which I prefer the original. The other updated song "Estamos Aqui" I feel about the same for as the original. Good punk but pretty unremarkable.

So overall it's not their best work. I only really liked the closer "Circles". But thankfully in their next album, they fully transform into the band that I ... read more

The Garden - The Life and Times of a Paperclip

In their first album you can tell that they are starting to find their voices as they start to mature in their sound. This album is still very quick and simple tunes that are more ideas than full songs. Even then it's an enjoyable though simple punk album.

Favorites:
- Interrupt
- Life as a Hanger
- The Life and Times of a Paperclip
- What we are
- Grass
- Gumdrops ( absolute favorite)

The Garden - Everything Is Perfect

The early experiments of one of my favorite bands.

It's VERY basic and hallow sounding, but it seems like it supposed to be this eerie minimalist sound. I like it! And they only get better from here!

Highlights:
- Fix
- Spirit Chant
- Everything is Perfect

Nice butt.

This is a nice chill album with Lorde sweetly singing to us. What's there to complain about? Now it may not be like her other stuff, but I always judge each album on their own individual basis since every album has its own unique ideas and identity. This album is good stuff tbh regardless of how great her other stuff is. Recommend you check this out with an open mind.

Nah y'all hating on this just to hate. Or I am just stupid easy to please when it comes to anything close to vaporwave. I just be vibing, dancing, and having a great time with this album.

Also even after hearing it a billion times I STILL like heat waves! Isa vibe!

Favorites;
- Tangerine

Glass Animals - How to Be a Human Being

I am definitely gonna have the "steam rolled hair" part of Cane Shuga stuck in my head for the next month. It's WAY too catchy.
Hell I had to repeat that song like half a dozen times it's way too good!

Other songs that I thoroughly enjoyed include:
- Pork Soda
- Mama's Gun
- The Other Side of Paradise
- Take a slice

Overall a really good album with very engaging and fun to listen to songs to enjoy.

Ringo Starr - Rewind Forward

✌️&❤️

At his advanced age you can't really be too harsh without it being mean to an elderly man that just wants to share the music that he loves to make.

Thankfully this is actually a pretty cute little tune regardless if it's by an old man, 20 year old, 5 year old, Ringo Starr or Justin Bieber. It's very charming and pure. I can't help but smile while listening to it.

My man Ringo is still kicking ass and I appreciate anytime I get to hear new music out of this living ... read more

Thank you @ClayDJs03 for the recommendation! ( 6/6)

The pink moon of the 80s.

Man what a heavy album. It's so haunting and depressing to listen to. Yet it's some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. Combining those two qualities are super hard but they pull it off amazingly. I loved almost every single song despite them getting my mood into a bit of a rut. I'll admit that the eyes were watering a bit at points. I highly recommend you check this album out!

The future is now old man!

Man the year 2000 was special one wasn't it? A whole new millennium is about to arrive or is here already depending on who you ask. And this production and rapping just instantly transports me there. It such a unique sound that the turn of the millennium provides, that's so instantly recognizable.

So the nostalgic and almost hypnotic production is clearly the star of the show for me. While it's great and all, ... read more

On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
