Puzzle - Tighten the Reins

Like the addition of the bass and drums to make the pretty flat sounding synthesizer (sometimes it's good and dynamic by itself) not be the only real thing to judge other than puzzles singing which is fine but nothing really standout. Too bad that's only the case for the couple of songs I enjoyed. Otherwise it's more of the same that I have come to expect out of Puzzle. Hopefully he starts innovating his sound in the next album cause this is starting to get a bit old.

Puzzle - Laying In The Sand

Mediocre album with a strong finish. The last three songs are on a different level than the rest. It's too little too late for me to think of this project all that positively tho.

Those last three songs:
- What She Might Say to Me
- Years
- Accelerate

Puzzle - Soaring

Vibes, the album. So if you want to spend an evening lying down and just stop existing for while then I got an album for you! It doesn't do anything innovative, but regardless of that the execution is just chef's kiss!

A chill listen with a nice soft voice and some fine production. Good stuff!

Talk to me nice is such a vibe!
Needs is a bop and half!
Tightrope is fucking jam!
The rest are fine enough but didn't leave that much of an impact on me.

Olivia Rodrigo - GUTS

I remember not being all that impressed by Olivia's debut album. I really only liked her singles "Driver's License" and "Deja vu" the rest was meh to just ok. This time I didn't really care about "Vampire" but enjoyed "Bad Idea Right?" So hopefully there's some songs in the album that I will have some fun with. Olivia's one of the biggest names around currently so hopefully her music matches the sheer hype surrounding it.

100/10 lips! very kissable!

About a month ago I was scrolling through anticipated future albums and came across this beautiful face! I immediately fell in love and asked her out. After being harshly rejected she did say that kissing is ok. Now we don't have sloppy make out sessions as often anymore cause this girl keeps talking about an album she has coming out soon. And I am like "WHAT? ALBUM? YOU?" And for the very first time her gorgeous eyes looked directly at me as she calmly ... read more

Anna Grace Odom - Take

Another gem from Spotify.

She has such a lovely voice and the soft guitar combination is SO good! Then when thing pick up a bit and settles for the finish the song becomes something pretty damn special!

Lauren Preuss - You!

Just discovered this song on Spotify's "Fresh Finds Indie" and it's such a gem! Highly recommend you check this humble artist out!

David Bowie - Lodger

*shrugs* I got nothing out of this unfortunately.

Electric Light Orchestra - Discovery
65

It's a fine listen mostly. I know at this point what I am getting out of ELO. Good music with great highlights.

Highlights:
- Need Her Love
- The Diary of Horace Wimp ( I bet some has mistaken this as a Paul McCartney song.)
- Don't Bring me Down (It's a classic for a reason!)

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Damn the Torpedoes

Other than "Century City" and "You tell me" I couldn't care less about what I was hearing.

Blondie - Eat to the Beat

The back half of the album is more consistently good than the relatively plain front. There's fun songs there's uninteresting songs. It's a mixed bag. Unfortunate that they couldn't continue the quality of their last record, but this isn't bad overall.

Holy shit another favorite of mine Todd Rundgren produced this! Now I am extra excited to see what this album has in store!

Fredrick:
Whoa ok. Patti sounds a lot less raw and passionate in this track. She sounds almost generic. If I didn't know that this was her I would almost not even recognize her. I was not expecting that tbh. I was expecting more of Patti's greatness with the spice of Rundgren's magic to make quite the unique experience. An almost generic love song with fantastic ... read more

I really enjoyed his apostrophe album so I am looking forward to this MASSIVE album hopefully it's just as fun to listen to!

I am doing all three acts for this review. I'm not doing track by track cause I don't want to be stuck on one album all day. So I will just give you a list of songs that stood out from the pack:

Highlights:
- Joe's Garage

- Crew Slut: is a fun listen but I also am weirded out by it as well.

Man it's only 79 but the 80's are coming in quick! So many signature synths that I associate with the 80's are popping up everywhere. This trend started around 77, became pretty apparent in 78 but it's undeniable for 79. The 1980s are coming and I could not be more hyped!

The opener "Broken English" sounds so 80s that I would have guessed it was released in 84 instead of 79. We are experiencing the trendsetters for the flood that's about to arrive. Soon enough Disco is going to be ... read more

Hey babe look! A new Hotel Pools album!
That's cool honey...

I have heard a song or two of these guys and enjoyed them just fine. Nothing too crazy that I had to listen to an entire album, but hey this came up on my recommendations so why not give it a shot. I hope the vibes are immaculate in this!

Projection:
Too much going on at once you can't really focus onto anything and it just isn't good.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Shadow (George Daniel Remix)

Even though I VASTLY prefer the original and don't think it needed a remix. (It's perfect already, why alter it?) It's a fine remix. I could do less with the voices distorted to a very low pitch deal. I thought that trend died by this point. Check out the original it's WAY superior to this version.

On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."

On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
