THE 138:91 POLYRHYTHM THOOOO I LOST IT WHEN HE GRIPPED ALL OVER THE PLACE
A 46 year old prince releases a shockingly good album for an artist many years past his time in the spotlight… is what you WOULD say if you only listened to the first two songs. Still, however, a really solid album with a couple stand-out tracks that make it a listen worth your time.
If the quality from tracks 1-6 continued throughout the entire album, this is the greatest piece of music ever created. Alas, (inevitably) the quality dipped in the end, but only slightly. Still really amazing stuff
The chord progression on Isn't It a Pity is so so so so so so so pretty. A brilliant song made by one of music's most brilliant minds. So moving.
Honky Tonk country pop that can’t help but make you smile. LOVE DIS SONG!!!
That future bit on Bunce Road Blues is one of the worst things I have heard in my life
Disc 1 opinions: production sucks most of the time and I am bored and dissapointed in J. Cole. Highlights are 29 Intro, SAFETY, and Lonely at the Top. Super mediocre
Conclusion - J. Cole rapping over generic, southern-trap beats for ~80 minutes really, really drags. However, when the music sounds even a little bit different, his technical ability can shine and this becomes much more admirable. Still, I came ... read more
Lovely music, just drags a bit for me. Nevertheless, this dude is a goat and a fucking rad guitarist. Much prefer Apostrophe, though.
I will say 5:55 - 6:15 on Son Of Mr. Green Genes is absolutely in contention for my favourite little tidbit of music ever. It is so unfathomably catchy and well done
I wasbeing a soybean baby bitch this is awesome as hell
I haven’t heard this yet but I hope it changes my life
While I was really getting into Revolution 9, hearing actual music at the end of it was amazing
Train Under Water = Yes
Poison Oak + Another Travelin' Song = Maybe?
Everything else = absolutely not
BORED. This sounds it’s best on the more experimental tracks (STFU, AIR FORCE) and there are some intriguing bits in HELICOPTER and STOLE YA FLOW. This dude is too old to be making a song like PLAYA… like come on
Only noteworthy song was covered by a 13 year old Michael Jackson and done better. I have nothing against this sort of soul but I find it quite boring HOWEVER as like a background album this is probably great
The more heartfelt songs are sweet, but they do drag this down sonically. JVB is at their best when they make them disco ahh crazy breakbeat songs
Genuinely would be a top 10 song ever if it weren’t for those SHITTY BREAKS IN IT
Everything about this song is perfect during the verses but man the chorus is an immeasurable letdown and becomes just a generic radio grunge song. 100 -> 40
