When I first reviewed this album in mid-2022, I was only aware of a few of their most popular tracks like "Paris" and of course "...And to Those I Love, Thanks for Sticking Around." Well, it took me the last three or so days to get through all of this, and I don't know, man.
If anything, I very much feel like Scrim should've done what Drake did with releasing three different albums all on the same day, each with their own sound. Because outside of this being way too long and bloated, what makes it more difficult is that the juggling of different sounds and styles makes this project extremely messy.
Artemas' first mixtape is honestly such a great first step for him in creating a name in the alternative R&B landscape. A lot of the songs are definitely carried by the amazing production in my opinion, but there are also some tracks where Artemas has some really great vocal delivery. Ever since first listening to Boards of Canada around 3-4 years ago, the duo has been one of my favourite music groups in the electronic genre. Highly infectious, made for a great album to listen to for my jog today!
Have never gotten too deep into Don's music, most of it is pretty okay imo, but this was truly otherworldly!
