Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!

I expected loud crescendos and ear splitting climaxes. Got that and a life changing music experience as well.

Swans - The Seer

Not quite sure how I feel about this album yet. On one hand, Swans are experts at building trance-like atmospheres and sustaining loud, intense tension; on the other hand, the repetition of tracks, like Mother of the World, can be downright annoying. Gonna give it a few more listens and then try listening to the next album in the trilogy

Slowdive - Souvlaki

My first time venturing into Shoegaze music! Pleasantly surprised! Was under the impression that most Shoegaze music was vibes, no substance. Don't really know why I thought that but I was wrong.

Julia Holter - Have You in My Wilderness

Reminds me a lot of Vespertine's production in how it sounds almost transcendental. Just so, so beautiful. I'll be coming back to this album many more times.

Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy

Bit of a mixed bag. Some hard skips on this EP, mostly the tracks that lean into bizarre vocal effects, and 2 tracks that are truly mesmerizing: Flim and IZ-US. Not really an experience that I'll be coming back to but the tracks that I enjoyed I will definitely keep in my rotation.

The Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity

It was memorable, that's for sure. Bewildering song structures and jazzy digressions. The first listen was uniquely grating, even for a metal album, making me extra attentive. Definitely an album that does not relent.

The Roots - undun

Phenomenal. Themes of unfulfilled dreams, pessimism, monotony, and fatalism. Quite a sad album, all things considered. My only complaint would be the last 4 songs, which are stripped down instrumentals with piano and violin. They feel tacked on. Highly recommended, nonetheless.
