The Gizz are back! Again! This time, with lots of synth!

Okay, enough exclamation marks. This is honestly their best and most consistent release since the incredible 'Infest the Rats' Nest'.

Although it's incomparable because musically and thematically 'Butterfly 3000' is completely different. This album works because it has them sounding fresh, innovative and nostalgic. Things (imo) KG & LW lacked. They also seem like they're having a great fucking time and it radiates in how good I ... read more

It's evident very quickly into 'I Lie Here Buried with My Rings and My Dresses' that Backxwash wants the listener to know this is a very important and personal record - and it's portrayed in such a raw and vicious way, with some brutally honest lyricism and themes (that directly affect her). These things are helped with an in-your-face, killer industrial metal & hip-hop sound as well as her aggressive vocal delivery.

After numerous projects over the past decade, it is Logic's sixth (and final?) studio album 'No Pressure' that finally has me impressed by a whole project of his.

It still has some of his worst attributes, at times - like the speed rapping and some corny wordplay, but it's much more toned down than on his predecessors.

By stripping back a lot of the production for a standard boom bap, east coast hip hop sound and a more mature & consistent approach to the introspective lyricism and ... read more

A more radio friendly version of the Yves Tumor we know. Still slaps.

Never disliked a release by Vince Staples, but this really doesn't get me excited for a new album. WHY HE SOUND SO BORED?

This has the embodiment of a very mid-type BROCKHAMPTON track 🤷🙄 why can't he ever have some ounce of originality. That's always the problem I've had with Tyler, the Creator - he tries to be too much like his contemporaries and this track shows it again.

Hey, I hope you're doing well.

I'm making a list and I'd love to know which album has had the greatest influence on your current taste in music? If you want, I'd also appreciate it if you could say exactly how it's made you grow/learn more as a listener (don't worry, you don't have to do this part).

Thank you for reading and answering, if you do

Thanks for the recc! It's not quite my cup of tea, but it definitely wasn't a waste, I was glad I gave it a listen. Felt like a more mature, more talented version of Gym Class Heroes at times. Here's my review: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/rollo-p/album/8755-believers/

Hey there! How are you? I'm making a list and I would like to know: what do you think is a perfect album to listen to in a certain city and which city would that be? Try and choose a city from your country or state/province. If you want to add some words on why you would choose that album, they will be welcome. Thank you!

Hey ! I’m making a community list for the end of the world, and I would love for you to contribute.

Prompt:

“The surrounding buildings, in ruins. The last survivors, scrambling to find anything that remains. Fire flickers in the pitch-black, creating just a sliver of radiance. Miraculously, you find an old device that can play music. You can only play one album as the battery is nearly dead. Knowing that you have little time left, what is the one album that you choose to listen to as you watch the world crumble before your eyes?”

The album topic could discuss a disastrous time, its sound could fit the vibe of a post apocalyptic setting, or it could be one of your favorite albums that you would want to experience for the last time.

Please provide the artist, album, and an explanation as to why you chose that specific album.

Thank you for reading <3
