Nearly perfect Post-Metal/Atmospheric Sludge album. Into the Beyond is such a huge track.
To talk about Deafheaven is to talk about a never-ending vision of improvement, a playful and experimental improvement.
Back in 2013 we had "Sunbather", an album that defined the peak of what a new sound could achieve. After "Sunbather" we had the chance to listen to Deafheaven playing with the more extreme aspects of their sound in "New Bermuda". "Ordinary Corrupt Human Love" brought back the more balanced ideas of Blackgaze while also showing a new ... read more
An exquisite cacophonic experience.
"The Spiritual Sound" delivers with such an amazing diversity of sounds that go from Black Metal screeches to Thrash Metal riffs, noisy guitars, melodic and evocative vocals while maintining a whole lot of atmospheric passages. Very complete work and cohesive in the way that the different sounds excepcionally blend together.
The highlights of this album are the absolutely haunting howls of the singer and the creativity in those guitar riffs.
Not really into Grindcore but this sounds extraordinary, 13 minutes of the most intense and absolute aggression you could listen to. From start to finish not a single second to rest (except for Celestial Bleeding). The variety of vocal techniques gives this a very dynamic feel too.
My journey with Chelsea's discography started with the release of "Abyss", I was instantly hooked by her angelic voice in opposition to the ominous atmosphere of her songs. The connection has since that moment always been there but somehow I only really listened to the albums after "Abyss".
Can only say that I am so glad of my decision to go back into her discography. “Pain is Beauty” ticks all the boxes that I need from her music. Absolutely phenomenal ... read more
Another proof that Anna has something special.
I listen to music practically all the time that I can and 2025 has been a spectacular year for music. There has been a lot of variety and high quality albums from the start to the end.
Have loved Anna's music since I discovered her back in 2018 with the release of "Dead Magic", so naturally this new album was one of my most expected albums of the year.
"Iconoclasts" got me hooked instantly. Nothing in her music feels ... read more
Curiously enough I have listened to this album both being in a relationship and while I'm dealing with a breakup and I can definitely say that effect it has had on me has been way more powerful during the second period. That's how you know an album is good, when it reaches to the most fragile parts of you.
I will always love Silvana's music and this album has helped me deal with some intense feelings when it had to but now is time to forget about this album for some time. Thank ... read more
The perfect band for enjoyers of the extremest side of Metal.
The way they blend together so many elements from different subgenres of Metal is nearly flawless. From Death to Slugde, from Hardcore to Black Metal passages.
The unrelenting storm of monolithic riffage is often balanced with sensational melodic sections. And on top of that the diversity of vocal interplays makes it a really enjoyable listen.
Hesse Kassel is a Chilean band that flows seamlessly and with dexterity between Noise, Progressive and Post-Rock with other elements from genres such as Jazz.
La Brea is a sensational debut, I would even say that it is one of the best debuts of the decade. While it might not be an accesible album for everybody due to the odd vocal delivery and the kind of chaotic instrumentals you will end up loving it as long as you give it the necessary time and attention.
The instrumental section is ... read more
A hidden gem you should add to your Blackgaze collection.
It has everything you'd like to hear in an album of this nature, deeply emotional and evocative lyrics, lush shoegaze instrumentals and a very cinematic and nostalgic feel. The visceral Black Metal screeches reach profoundly into you and with the incorporation of some distinctive elements like acoustic guitars, piano and string arrangements the typical formula within the genre gets a nice extra touch.
Terribly underrated album. I understand the disappointment one could have with "Birth of Violence" after albums like "Hiss Spun" or "Abyss" but I think it's a fantastic addition to her discography. It mantains the brilliant gloomy atmosphere of the previous ones and the captivating vocal performances that made me fall in love with Chelsea's art.
One of those albums that you enjoy the most laying in bed, with your eyes closed and your headphones on and fully focusing on the music.
"Guardian" is a beautiful collection of sounds and colourful textures blend together with a top-notch production.
