J. Cole's magnum opus leaves everything out there for the listener. Though some may suggest the long tracklist does not serve the best interests of the album, this retirement project is full of material for J. Cole fans of all eras to enjoy. From modern sounding production fans of TOS and MDL will enjoy to jazz and soulful beats for those who love that traditional Cole sound, this project offers a variety of soundscapes for which the argument of sounding too similar is merely downplay of ... read more
Joji's LP release leaves more to be desired. The average track length is a detriment to the album as some songs with promising ideas are cut too soon to be developed to the proper extent. The distorted alt-R&B sound for which Pixelated Kisses and Sojourn led the album is dropped across many of the other tracks quite disappointedly. The sampling is not as groundbreaking as ... read more
Logic's second concept LP follows a completely different story line from its immediate predecessor. Steve Blum's performances gave me, an avid fan of Cowboy Bebop, a great deal of joy. In addition to its unique plot, the songs vary in style, but all seem to be echoes of the work made by artists—most notably the 808s and Heartbreaks sound of "City of Stars." This album is more one dimensional than UP, but still offers the light-hearted charisma of Logic throughout all ... read more
